Re: House Purchase

We sold our house in Andalucia last April.

We had to have the papers updated because of a similar situation to the one you described - not registered accurately. It took eight months and cost several thousand euros (but was all updated legally at the end).

Hope this helps.

Re: Flat panel radiators.

For electric heating, these are what you need. My son has them installed in his flat, they are excellent, fully programmable, very efficient, not cheap to buy but well worth the money.

I'm sure they will sell them in major electrical retailers in Spain.

Re: what are autonomos for?

Good question. I am under the impression that you cannot earn an income once you are pension receiving age. You can if your Pension is from the UK. (other country's rules may be different). You can earn as much as you like. You may of course have to pay tax on it to the country where you are reside...

Black Money and House Sales

It was suggested we involved Black Money when we sold our house earlier this year. We refused and the sale went ahead legally. I know when we bought the house in 2003, paying Black Money was just 'how you bought a house' and no-one thought anything of it. We didn't even realise at the time that it w...

Re: Legal house in Almeria

AFAIK, the only way is to have all the papers checked by a straight, uncorruptible lawyer. You'll find one of those with the rest of the winged pink creatures flying past your window. Good luck! (For future reference, I can recommend one of this rare breed working near Granada. PM me for any further...

Re: Close Bank Account

Just to say I wrote to Caja Granada and enclosed a copy of our passports (plus the previous passport number as we have renewed passports since we opened the Bank Account), copies of residency card (expired and replacement) and sent it by signed-for delivery. Our Bank Cards had expired so I did not e...

Re: Selling up ?

There is nothing wrong in believing that life in Spain is the best thing since sliced bread. Neither is there anything wrong in deciding to move on, be it back to the UK or elsewhere. Each to their own. After 8 years here we are ready to move on, as it happens back to family and friends in the UK. ...

Re: Leaving on a Jet Plane....

Scampicat, I am taking my imported to Spain LHD car back to UK and I wondered if the DVLA would offer the option of the original plates going back on. Is it something you have to ask for? or is it an automatic process? :?: The lady at DVLA asked us if we remembered what the old number was and we sa...

Re: Leaving on a Jet Plane....

Thats great news . Now you can spend the money :) Well.... we took out a small mortgage on our UK house last October, paid it off yesterday. :) Have enough money left to renew the lease on the flat our son has just bought (it only has 66 years left). He can't afford it himself and this wa...

Keep a place in the UK. Not necessarily a large house, but somewhere you can come back to. Don't burn your bridges.

Re: U.K. ISA.

We were allowed to keep our UK ISAs while we lived in Spain, and were allowed to accrue interest on them, but were not allowed to add to them. However, I think sometimes the particular banks want you to close them, I think that is up tot he particular bank.
