Re: Lemon trees but no fruit

Firstly they like water and plenty of it. If you do not have them irrigated think about doing so. Secondly, do you prune them? All unnecessary branches, especially vertical ones should be removed. The best fruit comes from the more horizontal branches. The tree must also be kept "open", i....

I too could not find one locally for a reasonable price, most places wanting here €45+.
Fortunately I regularly place orders for bits 'n' bobs with RS Components ES (Amidata).€15 plus iva.

Re: tap splitter

I can only guess that the model of splitter you have has much narrower gauge through flow than the pipes it is attached to, thus reducing the pressure via a single outlet. An outside chance is that one or both of the rotary tap knobs are not fully actuating, again causing restricted flow. The second...

Re: Insurance company options and ITV question

Most cars have one reversing light on one side and a rear high visibility light on the other. The reversing light has to be on the kerbside of the car and the high visibility light on the centre of the road side. Aha! That does at least make sense, thanks for that. My pet gripe at the moment..........

Re: Insurance company options and ITV question

I read through this thread with interest. My experience is admittedly a few years ago when I ran an old banger in Spain. It was an UK RHD car that I bought in Spain. It had not been exported and was still on UK plates so I rang DVLA to ask what to do. After giving all the details including previous ...

Re: Films - Sound/Volume Question?

As El Cid was saying, playback on a 5.1 or similar surround sound system is the way to go. All films, many series and even some advertisements are recorded in a surround sound format, meaning that without the proper decoding equipment and multiple 'speakers you will never achieve a correct sound bal...

Re: Delivery by MRW

I agree with Enrique. After many failed deliveries, "incorrect address" or other fibs, I made sure my office, Torre Del Mar, had my full details. I told them to just call me when they have a package for me and I will collect it from their office on my next trip to TDM. They are quite happy...

Re: Sangria

Most important is to add the fruit to the wine/spirit mixture and leave it overnight in the fridge to infuse. Then when ready to drink, take it out, add the fizzy stuff and ice and enjoy! Sid That is the best advice given so far, it's crucial to a goooood sangria. As already said, proportions and t...

Re: Any electronic component stores in Malaga?

That little store in Torre Del Mar, Mailing Electronica, have a surprising amount of stuff if you ask. All the plugs etc. are on display but the components are are behind the scenes. Pretty much any standard parts they'll have. It's just the more unusual stuff, like higher quality components for spe...

Re: What's a Trolley Jack?

If you are going to use the trolly jack on a 4x4, which by nature have a greater ground clearance, buy a larger one than the Lidl offering. It is not physically large enough to raise the vehilce off a single wheel completely, for standard cars though it's fine. If you are working under the car it is...

Re: Fuse keeps tripping.

We need more detailed information here. Ideally the air-con should be on its own MCB of the correct rating and in the correct order on the main board. Is your pool filter/pump running at the same time? It could be the way the power is distributed over the various MCBs. Unless your electrical install...

Re: Non Alcoholic Beer

The two I like that are generally available at most restaurants are Mahou (still has a little alcohol) and San Miguel 0.0%.

Strangely, as nasty as I find normal San Miguel to be, their 0.0% is quite nice!

Re: gas certificate

As said already your gas installation should be checked every 5 years and re-certified. There is a basic cost, €40-50 seems normal plus anything that may need changing. That would typically be the rubber hoses that connect the gas cylinders to the pipework and thence the pipework to any gas burning ...

Re: Basin taps

This is a bit of a guess based on past experience as plumbing is not something I attack very often. You may have excessive cal or debris in your system. The tap in question may be the first or last outlet on the system and, therefore, collecting said cal or debris. Have you descaled the boiler or ot...

Most white goods spares (especially brands purchased in Spain) are available from;

Cumarjus
C/Magallenas,
Edif. Sur2
Velez Malaga
952 50 72 00

Go along with the offending part and chances are they'll have it or can order it.
They speak Spanish only.

Re: water supply

All pretty decent advice thus far, like mine though is out of date so please check your facts before continuing. For the leccy make sure you use an electrician that is certified by Endesa to carry out the work. He can then supply the boletin himself. The regs keep changing so a certified guy should ...
