Re: Prunning vines

We have two vines (both inherited from the previous owners), one which also provides shade, we let grow two seasons and then hard prune back. It gives an excellent crop every year which we let a neighbour pick for his wine making in exchange for other produce. We don't irrigate as the soil is very g...

Re: non alcoholic aperitifs

Not the ones you mention in particular but you can usually get apple or mora liqueur and mosto (alcohol free wine) at most restaurants. There are some alcohol free "schnaps" of various flavours in the trade stores, most of which will serve us non-tradies.

Re: Vaillant electronics engineer wanted

I doubt you will find a technician willing to actually diagnose and repair beyond just replacing the entire electronics board/module. I guess a new module would be least €100 plus fitting. With a new Vaillant 100l termo coming in at €250 to €350 I can't see you making any profit on the repair when s...

How does this tool handle multiple small branches or tight bundles of same? i.e. can it "gnaw" it's way through thick stuff?

Easy way/tool to hard prune cyprus trees?

I have a great long line of these along one border of the land. I usually attack with a combination of loppers and electric hedge cutter. This time around I've allowed the trees to become more unruly than usual and the above method is not working at any great speed. The trees smaller branches are to...

Re: Can air move a water meter?

The water company made us fit a valve immediately before the meter, while at it we also put in a plain "tap". We then have another valve and screw-spout proper tap on our side of the meter. The first one allows us to let the air out of the reconnected supply (very long supply pipe) and, mo...

Re: "Allsorts" in Nerja tel. no?

Allsorts changed ownership many months ago, long before Brexit. . The Brexit bit was tounge in cheek meaning their own private Brexit. This was the first I'd seen of the big change in lines and layout (had avoided Nerja during the main tourist hit), as you say pandering to the Spanish market now. A...

Passed today looking for UK sweets, many of the Brit lines have gone (Brexit? ) looks like new ownership but I didn't actually ask the assistant.

Re: uninstalling

Some programmes have there own uninstall folder contained within. If you navigate to the programme's main folder, open that you may find an "uninstall..." application file there. Another option, especially with printer and anti-virus programmes is obtaining a "cleaner" download f...

Re: Business Names

Back on the theme of business names, maybe a play on words? You may wish to choose Spanish though. In the UK there was a local company that did window cleaning, contract cleaning etc. going by the name of "Spruce Springclean", both humourous and a clear message. For some unknown reason one...

There are reported problems with the Anniversary Update so beware! The dreaded BSOD being the worst. Another is some standard drivers are getting corrupted e.g. those for USB devices, especially involving sound devices. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/08/08/windows_10_anniversary_update_is_borking...

"It was awful, dry, overcooked and pretty close to inedible." This! I'm personally not a fan of KFC but my wife and kids are, all agreed it was pretty nasty and easily the worst example from a member of the franchise. Adding to the quoted description above, the tiniest, scrawny chicken pi...

Hi Enrique, Firstly your data; MB = Gigabyte B85-HD3 Intel i7-4771 3.5GHz 16 GB RAM 64Bit The older 60gb SSD (OS) is the first seen in BIOS (as said the new one does not appear) with the files 1TB Hdd as second. Only the two choices. I have not got as far as Win10 validation and does not appear in s...

W10 upgrade... :O

Having a few nightmares with this! My intention was to clone my existing 60gb SSD to a 120GB SSD. This I did using EaseUS free. That would allow me to upgrade the new drive to Win10 as the older one did not have enough room left. (rather than deleting progs from there to make room) It would also bec...

Re: Cave house with road on top.... avoid?

Something that would concern me is any development of said road in the future. Plus, having seen what some people who merely live below a road have to put up with e.g. mud and rocks being bulldozed off the road into their land. The thought of new utilities being laid into the road is also a worry, l...

Re: Siesta and GMT

While GMT is geographically correct, I have to agree with Mrs W dark nights in winter - no. Looking at a time zone map, it is only Portugal and the Canaries that is on GMT, the rest of western Europe is on the GMT+1 timing, so I would have thought it would have been better to remain on that and be ...
