Re: Neighbours Blocking off our Drains

I was a little unclear as to your setup with neighbours and surrounds. You say neighbours on two sides, what goes on the other two sides? I ask as we had a very similar problem with a neighbour also digging up our drain pipe for rain water run off. We have neighbours on three sides and the remaining...

Re: Hifi and AV cables. What's your opinion?

I think the main quality of a HiFi cable should be, "fit for the purpose". This will be good construction, correct gauge and with an effective insultion. Add to that it's properties of resistance, capacitance and inductance (RFI and MFI also play their parts) which should all be suitable t...

Re: PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS 7

I have gone into the product area and have seen the number but it will not let me reactivate so it probably is a fake. BTW, the "Product ID" you see there is not the license code, it is not visible on the machine as it is encoded but can be hooked out with a special key finding programme ...

Re: Recommendations for La Herradura?

Quick resurrection for this; Spending a weekend in La Herradura soon and was looking for personal recommendations for restaurants here and Almunecar. In particular there was a discussion on a thread somewhere about the best chinese being in either H or A. I seem to remember it was run by family of t...

Re: google Street view on an ipad

If there is any similarity to how the programmes function on Android, in Google Earth I can walk along in street but in Google Maps my version of Android is too old to support the feature so maybe you have an OS problem?

They did all of our UK passport photos, just make sure they are aware it is for an UK passport and take the requirements with you.

Re: Alcohol free wine

Another recommendation for Castillo de Salobreña, this is the one some restaurants keep. The Spanish, here in Andalucia, often refer to it as "mosto", the same name given to grape juice.
I sometimes drink it as I'm always the driver!

Re: Epic fail MRW and SEUR

Re: New Indian Torrox

Reviving an old thread. Just to say we tried the Jaipur for the first time the other day. It is now our new favourite Indian in the entire area that we have tried (Nerja to Malaga to Periana). The various dishes are all very tasty, individual in flavour and the restaurant understands what "spic...

Re: Windows 10 on new HP LapTop - can print but not scan

Another thing to remember, even wih a brand new printer (all in one etc) is that the CD/DVD of software that comes in the box is unlikely to be the latest version of drivers and software. I always download the latest, appropriate software from the manufacturers support site.

The last time we went back to the UK we had a similar experience. I can't remember the name of the hire company but they also wanted £1200 "holding sum" against my card, I thought that very unreasonable and backed out of the hire. It was just a case of alarm bells ringing in my head, seeme...

Re: Sewage still charged although on septic tank?

Thanks WH, annoying but probably correct. I was hoping for a difinitive answer from someone in the know but I guess experience of similar should be OK. The only discrepancy here, as I've found out, is that I cannot connect to the main sewer at all as there is no provision nearby, that makes it doubl...

Re: PO Box payment

Maybe they're actually trying to simplify the system?!

Instead of sending out bills all year round (the different start dates) they can do a single run each year.
The wording, as described, sounds like a catch all to cover the varied dates that preceded the new system.

The process is very easy if you follow the instructions carefully, why would you want to obtain the forms first as you obviously have internet access?

Re: Renewing a British passport as an expat in Spain.

We renewed 2 passports last year, one normal and one changing from child to adult. They were done via the website as stated above. You simply fill in the forms online, pay the fees, print them off and post them, along with photos, old passports and any supporting documents that may be required for y...

Sewage still charged although on septic tank?

A curious one this; We installed a modern septic tank 6 years ago to replace a discovered pozo nego. (We previously thought we were on the village sewage sytem as we were charged for it) Our sewage system/alcantarillado is a separate charge to our water supply/abastecimiento de aguas. After installa...

Re: Potentia of electricity

What exactly was involved in doing that? Any problems with organising it? Sid We were due modernising work on the system anyway, so things like a completely new consumer box were on the cards already so we took advantage of that to make the change. Our electrician back then was Sevillana certified/...
