Re: Just bought a villa, now I need the internet

All direct debits are 'recallable' in Spain. Just instruct your bank to (a) return the unauthorised payment to you (b) cancel all future payment to the offending outfit. Did this Movistar did similar to us, deliberately dragging their feet over a contract cancellation. The effect was immediate. Our ...

Re: Problem - Canon All in One - Printer, Scanner, Copier

Most recent printers can be operated by USB (cable) connection. Worth a try.
If you still need a full user manual for the printer, you'll find on on Canon's website, under Support.

Unless you post the location of your new property, none of us will be able make a good recommendation!

Don't use silicone, it's not really suitable for outdoor use - go for one of those mentioned.

Re: Quarry Tiles

Although quite a small gap, fine mortar will do fine. Add some PVA to it to make it less porous. A quick alternative, if there isn't hundreds of metres of it, is to fill the gaps with either polyurethane adhesive (eg Pattex PU298) or Pattex 101 GP sealant. Both available in standard cartridges, and ...

Re: Dynasties in UHD on BBC Iplayer

Not sure if relevant, Mark, but Fire TV box mk1 wasn't 4k capable. I think mk2 was available in two versions, one of which was 4k. The mk3 'dongles' are all 4k, iirc.
Also not sure whether Int.907 is carrying 4k or not.

Re: Dynasties in UHD on BBC Iplayer

Always a bit difficult to know when you're actually watching best 4k or not. My understanding is that many of the on-line broadcasters/streamers will adjust the bit-rate of the programme that you are watching to match the speed of your internet connection. You used to have to (or were invited to) ch...

Yes, it's there too. Provided you have a 4k box, a 4k tv, and decent bandwidth, it should all be go.

Re: Dynasties in UHD on BBC Iplayer

We're experiencing the same on our Fire TV (type 2 box): some Netflix items (including NCIS) throw up that message, while others (like Designated Survivor, Once Upon a Time) play no problem. It's on our list to message (= chat with) Smartdnsproxy. Their incident line (on-line chat, available 24/7) i...

Hi Gerry,

You could try Aki . . . nearest now Mijas or Motril. Used to be good on this sort of thing; were bought by Leroy M.

A brand that comes to mind is Keter. Items from them on Amazon.es.

Re: Goats

Five animals or more, for non-domestic purposes, and you may need a zoological licence (even if it's not a zoo) from Seprona.
Two goats should be fine, as this isn't a nanny state. (Just kidding.)

Re: Endesa air conditioning

It is true, they don't cause problems for everyone. But when they do, it is frequently a nightmare to sort out. If an accounting error occurs, the error always seems to be in their favour. They also take the firm stance that mistakes are the customer's fault, and that their smart meters are infallib...

Competa.
Worth a visit to the pet supplies business Mascota, on the pol.ind. behind Peugeot (V-Malaga), on the main back road halfway between the old Club Seventy and the traffic lights. All the main brands (Science Life etc) but much cheaper than a vet's.

Win7 desktop shortcuts stopped working

Had an oddity yesterday: shortcuts on the desktop which should have triggered a website (including Outlook, weather, iPlayer...) just stopped working. Click on, and zilch - not even an error message - just a blank screen. Used an alternative device to websearch the problem, and Microsoft and other s...

Pretty much my experience with them too. They may not be the cheapest, but in the event of a claim, any complications are minimal. A very professional service.

I just spoke from personal experience, after serious errors in billing and meter issues. For years, Endesa and Telefonica have topped the polls for difficult customer service. Plenty of archive posts here if you do a Search.

Re: Linea Directa

The price paid for an insurance repair is usually 'confidential', as insurance companies do negotiate reduced rates from many repair companies they deal with. They are not keen on these rates becoming public knowledge. You stand a better chance of asking the repairing garage (at the time of the repa...

Re: Keep talking about OUR Freedom of Movement

Rights of EU to remain (living/working) in their settled country seem to have been agreed in the main Withdrawal document. What hasn't been agreed is the future right of British citizens to move to another EU country to live/work, so any thoughts of Brits living (even with residencia) in Spain and p...
