Re: Dynasties in UHD on BBC Iplayer

Just watched ep.1 (the Penguins). Both photography and picture quality (4k tv, 4k Amazon Fire tv and 10Mb/s) quite extraordinary. A lot of work went into the sound as well. Storyline of this episode really moving, too.

Re: Batr Spirits Tot Measures

It's done by guesswork/time here, not volume.
For gin, if you're lucky, there's just enough space left for a token splash of tonic! 8)

For pukka bar measures, go to Amazon, and just enter "jiggers". Lots of choice.

Re: bank yearly charge residencia

The annual charge is just that - an annual service (maintenance) charge for the account (and any cards you might hold for it), irrespective if how much the account is used. Inside/outside EU, with/without Brexit, you are able to open and hold bank accounts in a host of countries, so I wouldn't expec...

Re: Keep talking about OUR Freedom of Movement

There are now apparently lengthy delays in many parts of France for ex-pats wanting to take out French residencia, which is processed and granted by local mayors. In some areas, the wait for an interview for the application has been reported to be up to two years. This is partly because of the large...

Re: New Car v Used Car

Lessons learnt in my first day if sales training “Always ask for the order” and “Assume the sale is made”! That reminded me of some advice I once got about how to deal with unwanted telephone (or doorstep) sales: "What are you selling?" "No, no, we're not selling, just wanting to tal...

Re: New Car v Used Car

There is a good reason not to want to actually own a new car these days: the sheer technical complexity of them. The more there is there (and engine, transmission, emissions, navigation, lighting systems have all multiplied), the more there is to go wrong, while at the same time being virtually impo...

Re: Multifunction printers

The self-test thin lines/boxes are intended to show up jets which aren't working, and do this very well. They're often part of a semi-automated routine that incorporates repeat cleaning. The 'work-out' patterns are different. They involve broad bands of each ink colour, to push a larger (but not exc...

Re: Multifunction printers

Laser represents a higher purchase cost, but - vastly reduced cost-per-copy costs - ability to print on vitually any paper - instantly ready-to-print (after about 30 secs warm-up) - no jets to clog or ink to waste; dry toner comes with each replacement drum-cartridge - a really long life for the uni...

Re: Multifunction printers

The trouble with inkjet is that the less you use them (in full colour, all jets operating*) the more prone they become to clogging. There is also the evil software they include (Epson and some others) that can not only kick up when non-genuine catridges are fitted, but - worse - is programmed to bri...

Re: Venta San Miguel, Nerja

Well, it's happened... The old rustic Venta San Miguel restaurant is now stripped out, and the family embarked on re-fitting the old and neglected Boatyard (Varadero) bar a short distance away (along the beach track between the car park opposite their old premises and Nerja). The new sizeable premis...

Re: Multifunction printers

Forgot to mention that inkjets thrive and stave-off clogging only with regular (at the very least, weekly) use.
Laser can be left for weeks (years, even!) at a time, and always fire up first time.

Bit like the case that Currys/Dixons/... made more out of selling the extended cover than on the article itself.

Re: Multifunction printers

If, by any chance, you don't particularly need colour, then a monochrome (b/w) laser printer makes enormous sense; no ink to clog, no special paper, and available for way below €100. Even worth looking at some colour laser printers, although cost more. After years and several inkjet Epsons, I went f...

A good many of the shops use Covisol as their supplier.
Glad you got much better quote. Price may well include IVA.

Re: Glass cutting and supply

If out this way, Covisol - at the very end of the Po.Ind. La Pena, next to ITV station Algarrobo - will do all that for you.
They stock all types of glass (up to 2cm thick!) and mirrors, and will cut, bevel, polish, drill on the premises. Seriously capable.
