Re: Going back to the UK-questions

Sid- thanks.I am still a it confused, as you say I could be liable as considered non tax resident for the year, but then say, it's ok as I was resident when I sold it. In any case, surely I will have to deregister from Spain,in order to register on the British tax system ? Will my accountant. Still ...

Re: Going back to the UK-questions

Whitehorse-once back in UK how will I claim the CGT relief that I will be entitled to, as I will have sold my house in Spain in 2014 while tax resident, over 65, and lived in our only property for more than 3 years? Someone said I will have to put a tax return in next year, but of course I will not ...

Re: Going back to the UK-questions

Surely I need to claim relief from cgt as I am over 65, fiscal resident and have lived in the house for over 3 years or will my accountant do that? Also I will then have to get a certificate of deregisration from the Spanish tax system? Will dwp require proof I have deregistered from the Spanish hea...

Re: Smoking at bars with terraces

You can imagine the response of the owner- complaining would be futile.
The no smoking law was brought in for a reason. No one should have to avoid a place because it is breaking the law. A fine would set a precedent- bet you'd see the sides roll up then!

Re: Smoking at bars with terraces

There is obviously a need for clarification on this rule, as it is being abused, and any loopholes should be stopped.Clients should not have to endure a smoke filled"tent" when passing through, and staff should not be put at risk by working in a smokey atmosphere. The NO Smoking law was br...

Re: Has there been a change to Spanish succession law recent

If this new law doesn't come into effect till 2015, then why have I read in various articles that it is being applied now? Is this to make people pay out for a new will? So, if a partner dies now, and the clause isn't in the will now, i assume effects will still be distributed under British law? The...

Re: Smoking at bars with terraces

I inquired about this to the local council in Mazarron about the bars on Camposol, some of which have totally closed in canopies ;they said at least 2 sides of the outside area had to be open. What is the point of the the no smoking in restaurants etc if they have created another enclosed area, with...
