Re: Re-investing House Sale Money

Laslomas- when you moved backed to the UK, had you been resident in Spain for more than 183 days? If yes, then the following year you still need to send a tax return for the past year. What did you think would happen about your tax? Presumably you had an accountant -what did they say, when you told ...

Re: will you return to uk or stay in spain

Mark wilding - It's based on general knowledge!I thought most people know that it is the custom, as in many other countries, that the elderly are taken care of by their families, and that, at present , there are not as many care homes in Spain as in the UK . I don't think it needs in depth research ...

Re: will you return to uk or stay in spain

The prices I've seen for care agencies seems higher than the UK, and if someone needs several hours of care daily, it would be unaffordable. There are adverts for carers offering their services, but I would be dubious about employing people this way, having heard some real horror services about peop...

Re: will you return to uk or stay in spain

If it's so simple, why do we get so much conflicting information from the financial gurus eg, the assets declaration for a start, even now there are arguments about what you do and don't declare. There are pages and pages of confusing info on forums re tax Even articles by the well known law firms c...

Re: will you return to uk or stay in spain

Did someone say earlier that the tax system in Spain is simpler? joking, weren't you? A major reason for going back to the UK is the tax system and its mean, penalising IHT. Many of these people who vehemently say they will never return to the UK , will have to eat their words, especially when they ...

Re: Removals

Infoseeker, you don`t say which firm you are talking about, is it me or one of the other two firms mentioned ? I am not the cheapest removal firm out there, but I`m certainly not the dearest. my prices are middle of the range. A good removal service is also not only about price, it`s about turning ...

Re: New tax on properties sold "under value"

I understand that this " complementary tax" not " complImentary " as some mistakenly think, can be avoided if the solicitor checks with the Hacienda which value will be accepted. Unfortunately the Hacienda has not updated its list of house values to accommodate the fact that the ...

Re: Potencia Contratada and ICP Rating

Even a small increase in potencia means a considerable increase in the standing charge. How on earth do people manage with 2.2 kw. It must be very restricting. Our villa had 3.3 kw, regarded as holiday home potencia,Which we endured for years before increasing to 5.75 kW. The boletin , inspection an...

Re: Who Gets The Property?

Katy-the allowance is £. 325 k in the UK. What you seem to forget is that spouses don't pay IHT on their husband'/ wife's assets, therefore nothing to pay, as there would be in Spain. It is terrible that in Spain spouses have to pay IHT on the deceased's assets, with money they have already been tax...

Surely if a resident receives the remainder of the pension pot they will pay IHT in a Spain on it , even if not in UK.

Re: Flood repeat?

From the various definitions I have read, gota fria decscribes perfectly what happenened on Camposol. Late September or early October doesn't matter- it's nit picking. People more qualified than posters on here have described it it as a Gota Fria. The Consortium regard it as such and are dealing wit...

Re: Flood repeat?

This was described as a Gota Fria by Murcia Today, who also gave a definition of it,which matched the description.
This was not just a thunderstorm. Thunderstorms do not cause this type of destruction, a roaring surge, breaking down walls etc.
