Spanish 'snacks'

What quick, easy, natural nibbles do the Spanish enjoy? Or do they? Snacking seems to be a junk food culture thing?

To me, tapas are filling enough to be a meal!

Pre-retirement options

With a few years to go before finally 'retiring' (as if!), we'd like to dip our toes into the Costa water and reckon renting an apartment for months at a time shortly after retiring is the most sensible option.

It's a broad question, but does anyone have similar experience/guidance?

Why is it that all the Countries that are really struggling are the Catholic ones?? I'm a Catholic, and see that as much an irrelevance as other replies have indicated; e.g. dark hair; expats.
