Re: Sky Reception Today

We have got an old Pace 2600 in the bedroom and when this happens it takes about an hour to come back on. The sky+ box works again pretty well straight away.

Re: Should we take big electric goods to spain??

We did ours with vodafone in the UK as we have our mobiles with them and they knock a bit off. Pay £25 a month for line rental, all calls and broadband. Speed usually about 4mb. Very happy with it,

Re: Gardening Ideas

Sid, they are beautiful. Have you got any photos of the rest of them? Do I hard prune mine back now? Have been doing a bit of gentle pruning throughout the year but nothing drastic. The roses I brought back are the "old english roses" - Jude the Obscure is one and can't remember the name o...

Re: Gardening Ideas

You are so right Martin. We have learn't a lot from wandering round the parks. I love Paloma park in Benamadena and could spend hours there. Especially the cacti garden. We are in the campo and it gets quite windy and I have learn't the hard way that not everything in the garden centre will survive ...

Re: LCD TV Screen

Paula - just a thought  do you leave the tv on standby all the time? I can remember one we had a few years ago started going pink. Iwas told to turn it completely off for a few hours. let it sort itself out and switch on again. I left it overnight and it was fine next day. It did it afew times...

Re: Photobucket INFECTED!!! BE CAREFUL!!!

Ken I don't know what it was but it totally corrupted everything. One minute I was on a reputable website and the next everything just froze. I am fairly computer savvy but just gave up and re-installed. We are in the UK for a couple of weeks which was lucky as nothing important on my computer here ...

Re: Photobucket INFECTED!!! BE CAREFUL!!!

I had the same problem this morning on the Martins Money Tips forum. Computer froze and I couldn't get back into it. Had to do a complete re-install of XP. It has taken me most of the day to get things back to how they were :(

Re: You Tube Video on Vera house demolition

Jool I agree with you that Spain is a great place to be. Wish I was brave enough to retire here completely. I love where we are, the spanish people are great and the weather out of this world (apart from today!!) But even when my OH retires completely I don't think we will commit while all this is g...

Re: You Tube Video on Vera house demolition

It's horrifying. And this is the reason we are keeping our roots in the UK. We have always got a bollt hole to run back to!! Our villa is mostly legal, apart from a third bedroom we built on in 2002, but then they thought theirs was legal - it doesn't seem to mean much over here. My brother is in a ...

We were until it conked out!!! We were actually going to a little place called Fines which is near Albox.
We weren't sure where we were going the first time and got lost finding his place. Some of the tracks it took us down I wondered if we were going to ever see civilisation again!!

Re: Clothes washing powder/liquids

For those in the campo and on soakaways/septic tanks. I found in the UK that our drains kept blocking and was forever getting the rods out. Thought all the white stuff coming through was fat from the sink until someone told me it was washing powder. I switched to liquids and the drains stopped block...

Yes we did have climate control on. Perhaps it was a bit high up for it? But it has happened twice up there on our trips to my Brother in Almeria.

Re: Detail on SATNAV for Spain

Like Detourer we have the TT 910 and we think it is fantastic over here. You have to be a bit careful and make your own mind up whether to tackle a track up a mountain, but we had that problem in the UK. Some roads it tried to send you down were ridiculous. Would recommend it to anyone. One piece of...

Re: Coffee machines?

For black coffee we bought a Braun in the UK, still going strong after a few years. Brought a Krups over here and very pleased with it after a year. It has a thermos jug so the coffee doesn't "stew" on the hotplate. Once it has brewed you can take the jug where you want so handy in the sum...

Re: Can you bring houseplants to Spain?

I have just flown back from the UK with 2 David Austin Roses in my suitcase without a problem. I wonder if anybody ever looks at anything when you drive over. We drove the whole way through France and Spain and I don't think they even realised we had 2 dogs in the car as we had darkened windows. Nev...

I would suggest you leave it unplugged from the mains overnight and see if it will work in the morning. Sounds as if it might be on the way out

Re: Sky box switching to standby

have you tried pulling out mains lead for about 10 mins and letting it reset itself. When you put lead back it will take a couple of minutes to reset before you can switch it on again. Just keep pressing the sky button until it goes green.
