Not quite that. It's the times when you don't mind what heat the water is that you should default to cold, perhaps you are right and other people already do. Still I thought it was worth a mention.

Energy saving tip.

Don't use the hot tap unless you want hot water. Our house is fitted with lever taps and, up until 3 months ago, they were always left set to 'hot'. Having realized how much gas had gone up in price I decided to try setting all the taps on 'cold' so that if one just wanted to rinse something out or ...

Yep, that's what we did.

We had been here 4 years before we realized we should be registered so we just did it the next year. There were no problems. Neither the UK Pensions Office nor the Spanish asked why we had not done it before.

Yes, I am living the dream. I spent 40 very hard working years in the UK to earn enough to be able to buy a house in the sun. I have been here 7 years and have spent that time helping to reform the finca we bought. It has been incredibly hard work but such FUN, and to be able to stand back now and s...

I've never thought to ask this question as my income is always the same, month on month. It might be useful to know, however, if the Spanish fiscal year is the same as in the UK i.e. April to April?

I have just received a cheque from my building society. The first one which I requested over a month ago went 'missing' but fortunately they took my word for it. The second one , which was a replacement one, arrived within 3 days, crazy or what!

Star gazing

Got the backyard telescope out last night to look at Jupiter. It is the bright star in the southern sky and at the moment all 4 of it's moons are also visible. I had never seen them before so it was quite a thrill. They were not visible with our binoculars but I think you could see them through a re...

Don't know if you have found answers to your question yet fearfulfred but I heard on the radio today that pomegranate trees will usually drop their fruit or fail to make any until they are at least 5 years old unless the conditions are exactly right for them. Apparently they are self-setting, howeve...

Don't you find it infuriating that all the producers of these difficult to use items must know of the problems but do nothing about it :x It's the same with the 'clever clogs' computer program guys who think it is great that they can spot you are in Spain and instantly convert your screen to Spanish...

I do feel for you, I've got the same phone and the only way I can use it outside is if I bury it in the depths of my handbag and dive in after it  Not much help to you I know but I thought you might feel better to know there is a fellow sufferer out there.

Got to try that Gretch. We have only had 3 letters sent to us by registered post and all three were returned to sender as un-deliverable. Correct. You need your passports. We went a few weeks ago and, as usual, parked our car on the La Linea side and walked in. It is so much quicker than taking the car through customs and if you don't fancy the walk across the runway there are plenty of buses to take you into town. A word of warning t...

Does seem a bit dodgy. Especially as I believe that partners are no longer liable for each others debts in the UK and surely the church would know that?
