Re: Don't Lose Heart...!

I just don't follow the argument that British immigrants living in the EU should, of right, continue to be entitled to Government payments such as the Winter Fuel Allowance. Why is the Government considering changing the entitlement rules? It is part of their efforts to reduce overall expenditure fo...

Re: Exchanging UK driving licence for Spanish licence

As a aside, having exchanged my UK driving licence for a Spanish one two years ago I have just exchanged the Spanish one back to a UK one now that I am back living in the UK. I sent the application to the DVLA last Monday and received the new licence this morning all in less than a week! There is NO...

Re: will you return to uk or stay in spain

Well, after 10 years and 5 months living in Spain ( not intending that to sound like a prison sentence!) we have just returned permanently to live in the UK. We have been back just two weeks and so far, so good. Why have we upped sticks? We moved to Spain a couple of years after my retirement. We so...

Yes, as others have said. That's how we have been watching UK TV since the "switch-off" and it works very well. The picture quality is excellent.

Re: Musical instrument shops in Malaga area

There is a specialist musical instruments shop in Malaga City at the river end of Calle Cuarteles. It's a street that runs down from the main station (Maria Zambrano) towards the city.

Re: Advice please re long term rental...

Long term rentals as distinct from short term lets, are usually for 11 months as anything above 11 months give the renters entitlements which can be difficult to terminate. Of course the rental can be renewed afresh for a further period.
Why do you say they are a myth?

Re: De-registering your car when its sold ...?

In the time I've lived here I have traded in three cars through a dealership and they have done all the paperwork bar insurance. It never occurred to me to anything myself and, fingers crossed, I've never had any problems.

This was in "Typically Spanish" yesterday "Work will start in January on an access road and the hospital can’t open until it is completed, according to the Junta. Once operational it will serve a catchment area of 110,000 inhabitants and fulfils a promise made ten years ago. 20 millio...

That is good news and about time too! Maybe the hospital will be next on the list! Unbelievable that they can spend so much money on such Capital Projects only to leave them partly unfinished for so long.

Re: UK tax allowance-will it be removed?

Members of the Armed Forces are NOT Civil Servants, neither are teachers! Both have their own separate pension schemes, I was referring to the Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) which covers only employees of Central Government departments.

Carrowcrin, the railcard you refer to is called a "tarjeta dorada" and is available to anyone aged 60 or over. You just need id when you first purchase it to prove age. It costs €6 and is valid for a year. It offers varying discounts depending on what day of the week you travel. In the cas...

Don't know about Pizzara but here in Alora we were visited a couple of weeks ago by a man in a 4x4 who was from the Catastro checking their records. We were on our way out so, apart from checking his ID we asked no questions. With hindsight we should have done! Our property is legal and fully regist...

Re: Sand in water supply

Hi Gerry. We have the same problem and fitted a filter exactly like the one shown in your link. It works well provided it is cleaned out fairly regularly. It reduces (but not completely) any clogging of filters in the washing machine pipe and taps in the kitchen/bathroom. Worth getting one. Rob
