Martin, What is so bad about France that causes you to "spit" every time you say the word French, and why you are so determined to get through France asap. You must have had an awful experience. Why not take the ferry to Santander or Bilbau then you won't see any of France. Personally I think France...

I'm not sure why you would want a UPS for your telly. Normally a UPS is to give you enough time on your PC to close any applications cleanly and be able to save any files you might be working on, after the power cut. This would typically be about 10 to 20 minutes. I guess if you had a big enough UPS...

Let's face it - the main reason people buy inland is price. If you are 1 hour plus from the coast the prices are lower. Simple as that.

Hi, I don't think you would want to swim in the sea or an unheated pool at that time of year! Costa del Sol beaches tend to be a bit gritty. Costa de la Luz has superb sandy beaches although it faces the Atlantic, not the med. At that time of year the weather could go either way - a week of glorious...

TerryP,

Very sorry to hear of your bad news.

Is there no chance of the private medical insurance company paying out? What is their excuse for not paying?

Failing that, can you find out if the drug is available on the NHS in the UK?

It might be time to get back to the UK now.

I think that the car-hire offices have a window and service desk on two sides, one on the arrivals side and one in the general airport area. At least they do at Alicante, I can't remember the setup at Malaga.

Re: Traffic from Malaga airport

Is the traffic really that frightening. Someone please put my mind at rest. Nervous Hellie As Frank said it is not that bad. Out of town I find driving in Spain very relaxing and enjoyable. Watch out for driving through the centre of small villages - it's all too easy to end up down a very tight de...

Karen, I'm sure one of the best ways for your kids would be for you to set the example and get started right now! Check out Amazon for recommended Spanish books and get started on Michel Thomas or similar. You know you see a lot of TV programs where the kids go to Spanish school and a while later th...

Almeria is one of the sunniest and driest parts of Spain and if you stick to the coast I think the winter temps are as good as it gets in Spain. I haven't been to Almeria the city, but toured around a bit last year. I enjoyed the Cabo de Gato natural park. In places there are huge areas of poly tunn...

Hi,

You need to be careful buying rustic land with a view to building on it. The laws have really tightened up and the old 10,000 metres and you can build days have gone. Did the land have an existing dwelling or ruin?

We do have double glazing, etc, but surely this will make a difference to heat loss whatever the method of heating. Yes you're right it shouldn't make any difference in theory, whether you have rads or UF heating. From what I've read about UF heating there can be drawbacks such as the slow response...

There is no problem installing a full CH system except for the type of fuel you may require and having a suitable space to site the gas or oil storage tanks. I assume there is no piped natural gas in your area? It is quite rare in Spain. 400M2 is a pretty big space to heat. Having good insulation an...

Are you planning to put your 12 yr old into a Spanish speaking school? If so, I would be worried if it was my child as they would have an awful lot of catching up to do.

Thanks sioban,

I reckon having a decent lake nearby can make up for not being near the coast. I do like to take a dip in the summer when I'm in Spain.
