There may be a connection...

Reminds me of the slogan I once saw on a tee shirt.

"Keep Australia tidy. Don't go back"

Re: Spain isnt cheap

Drank lager "half a litre", ok was probably a pint glass, for 1.50 eur earlier in the week in Spain.

My local here in Hampshire, last night £4.30.

Re: changing pounds to euros?

Passing through Waterloo yesterday on my way to watch the "Gooners", picked up some Euros at 1.08 at "ICE"...

Hopefully that is the lowest price I will pay for "cash" for ever again !

Anyone wishing changing euros to pounds, I would suggest getting in quick.

In my humble opinion, it cant get any "better" than this. The bottom surely has been reached !

Re: Squatters

The law really is an ass...

If they went to the local supermarket and stole food, they would be possibly arrested.

Yet they can steal electricity et all, and the legal owner of the property has to go to all that trouble to get his place back.

The latest is, the squatters have moved on, but left a dog in the back patio, which has now been sent to an animal sanctuary.

Done in the name of "religion" of course.

On the same day that the Spanish navy rescue 500 migrants at sea....

Re: Squatters

Do not know the person, personally whose house has been "squatted", but there are a number of "holiday homes" in the locality.

It is a question of "there but for the grace of God "

Squatters

I have just heard about squatters taking over a "holiday Home" in the locality.

It seems the police have been informed, but have not shown any great interest.

I suppose as a first step, the owners could have the utilities disconnected !

I wonder what the legal position is ?

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

Thanks again Enrique... I have mentioned this to the "forms people". Will be interesting to see what they make of it. At the same time, I can't believe I will be paying less than last year. I thought all these taxes were meant to increase year on year ( OK, mark time now and again ) We sha...

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

Thanks Enrique.

Actually looking online I am a little confused.

The multiplier for 2015 I was told was 2%

I note when I paid the last lot of IBI, the valor catastral, had increased ( a revision has been carried out ? ) so has this now gone back to 1.1% ( knowing my luck, guess not ! )

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

I am sure the information is on here somewhere, if I had the time to flick through. I believe the tax rate has reduced to 19% for 2016 ? I accept the multiplier from the company who do the forms for me. Not in their interest to give me dud information as I pay a set fee. I know the valor catastral f...

Re: Effect of the UK General Election on the exchange rate.

Further to the above, as it were....

Little snippet from today's Telegraph.

"85,000 apply for 30 bank jobs in Italy"

Seems they are junior jobs, but youth unemployment close to 40%, and the high level of interest was a reflection of the state of the economy.

Re: Effect of the UK General Election on the exchange rate.

Well, unless it happens, whole generations of youth in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, will be unemployed. Maybe that will be the normal. Sad perhaps, but true, unless the whole thing unravels, and countries are able to set their own exchange rates. Will be interesting to see how the political class...
