Re: Dying plum tree

I'd leave it alone for now.

Our plum tree only came back to life last week, the last tree to do so. We live in Canaries. Give it more time.

Re: Root bound succulents

We find that the easiest way of propagating is to immerse cutting in a glass or bottle of water until roots establish.

works very well with succulents.

Also works well with Figs, oleanders/adelfas.

Re: Certificate of civil status

I'm in the process of doing this at the moment.

I am in Canarias, but the document for foreigners usually accepted is a Certificat de Coutume, which should be obtainable from your Embassy.

Re: Security cameras

The police won't know the law with regards cameras and cctv, etc. They will take the easy option to suit themselves as use of cameras is very difficult to prove. If the neighbour says the camera is fake, what do they do then ? We've been through this with them and they were clueless. Even their secu...

Re: My property damaged by a neighbour.

My initial reaction......remove the cable, etc. But then........if you don't live there the neighbour can and will get revenge in some way when you're away. Can you do anything else to annoy them ? something covert ? I wouldn't denounce to police. They will side with the local. Also, unless you witn...

Re: CURRENT MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?? EX-18

I presume that they want an Apostille for the document, which in effect gets the country that the document originated from to verify its authenticity. Otherwise it's just a piece of paper which could be out of date, not reflecting the current state of the relationship. There are a lot of fake relati...

Re: Watering with "grey water", any tips?

I had assumed that using the sewage to water the garden was common practice all over Spain!! We reuse everything and it works like a dream, although monitoring and small maintenance is required. Our depuradora is a 2 tank system, solids remain in the first and liquid filters into the second tank whe...

Re: What constitutes the escritura paperwork in Spain

All the agent needs is the Nota Simple.

Make the escritura available in your house for perusing by interested or serious buyers.

It might be a case that the agent wants to ensure that you have the escritura in your possession.

Re: NO Spanish Will? Then please read this

There is only so much any of us can do to protect what should be ours. Bearing in mind the type of people that you were dealing with, not even a will would have protected you, as they would probably have convinced your partner to change it on her death bed! You might have ended with an usufruct, but...

Re: Trees too close to the boundry?

Believe it or not, your neighbour is correct! According to the civil code, trees must not be planted within 2 metres of the boundary. Plants must not be planted within 50cm of the boundary. I checked it recently, before I planted some trees. The above rules can be different at local level, but I sus...

Re: A slightly different take on an old topic

I think the article is a little misguided or sort of romantic - "Spanish want to return to farm the land". Most certainly not the case in Canary Islands, where unemployment amongst young people is between 50% and 60%. 28% general population. The young spanish men do not want to work. Over ...

Re: SPAIN WONT CHANGE MY UK DRIVING LICENCE FOR A SPANISH ONE

Seems fairly straight forward to me!

From what you have said (dates), you have illegally obtained a UK licence (November), as you were already officially resident in Spain (September). to get UK licence you must be resident in UK.

So why should trafico accept a fraudulent licence from you!

Re: Noisy Neighbours

On a point of law, the police can only enter your private residence if they have a court order or you have given them permission and of course if in flagrante delicto. IMO, entering and turning the volume fully up, would be completely illegal and an abuse of power. If that happened in my home, the s...
