Re: Buying a property as part of a syndicate

OK OK OK already.

I'm forgetting the whole hair brained scheme.

I have these moments of madness from time to time.

I'm sitting on the naughty step.

Re: Buying a property as part of a syndicate

Benny. You're right. I'm not interested in an investment. Our wants and needs are quite simple and we've never lusted after wealth. I had my own one man band business for 40 years and resisted the temptation to expand. Retired now. Got enough to see us out.

Re: Buying a property as part of a syndicate

Unicorn... I hadn't thought of that. Thanks. We looked for you in the port Sunday. Hope you are well. Was going to eat at Caracola but the time wasn't right. I'm not confusing you with someone else am I? Katy.... you owned in Spain didn't you? Benny. Didn't mean visualy. I've no idea what either of ...

Re: Buying a property as part of a syndicate

Thanks Wollie and Benny. Wollie..... you misunderstood. I didn't get shafted on the house. In fact we did rather well. Bought when prices were low. Bought out the partners after a slump, and sold the whole place after a major boom. I never regretted buying or selling. It was the divorce where I got ...

Buying a property as part of a syndicate

This is an idea I've had. In 1986 me and my first wife saw a very small property at the lovely Commmunidad Villacana between San Pedro and Estepona. It was equivalent to two hotel rooms on top of each other. Bathroom and kitchenette on the ground floor and no 2nd bathroom on the top floor. Nice balc...

Re: car hire excess insurance

The business model of many hire companies is to offer very cheap rates, then pressure you into taking out their very expensive insurance. If you don't take it, on return, they will forensicaly examine the car and you can be 100% sure they will find a minute fault and charge you an astronomical fee t...

Re: "go to" cafe/restaurant near Malaga airport

Sorry to put a negative spin on this post, but I know two people who have stopped somewhere to eat after leaving the airport and had their cars broken into and ransacked.

I've visited Gib many times over the last 35 years. I think it's a very interesting place. Got some unique tourist attractions like the apes and the seine tunnels. The caves are excellent. The Marina is nice We've taken the car in many times . The wait can be tedious but is soon over I recomend you go

Re: Disposal of old engine oil

Good point chris

I don't understand the mentality of people.

We have a council tip a couple of miles from us which accepts more or less every thing foc.

Yet we still get normal household stuff dumped regularly.

Re: Disposal of old engine oil

I used to mix my old engine oil with the new type of creosote. It makes a great preservative for wooden pots and fence panels

Re: Recommendation Sanlúcar de Barrameda

We had a few days there when we had an extended stay at our holiday home. I thought it was a smashing place. One night we went to a restaurant where you chose your stuff from a display cabinet and they cooked it for you. When they realised we were English they treated us like royalty. For me the bes...

Re: Do You Know ????

Lovely stories everyone. The little house we had had no real history as it was just a holiday place on an urbanisation. It was built in the 70s. The original owners were a Dutch couple Mr and Mrs Ollgard. We bought off them when they got to old to visit. We eventually sold it to the next door neighb...

The fitter at my local place told me that if you use the spray can of goo to inflate the tyre, the tyre has to be scrapped.

Re: Water heater on a timer problem

Not pertinent to your problem but related. When we had our house it was let out occasionally. The tenants used to leave the water heater on when they left. Often for months. So I bought a "Run down Timer" which replaced the old on off switch. You just pressed a button and it ran for 1 otr ...

Re: Old maps of Estepona

Thanks Gordon. I will do what you suggest next time. I'm part of a group called Estepona en el Corozan. Often old photos are posted. One recently showed Calle Real ( now it's a pedestrianised street) But you can see from the photo it had buildings only on one side and was in effect the passeo. The l...

Old maps of Estepona

I like looking at old maps and seeing how things have changed.
I've googled to try and find one of Estepona without success.
Does anyone have a link?

Thanks
