Re: Did he have to pay inheritance tax?

Thanks very much for taking the time to post that reply. I'll pass the info onto him. It sounds like he needs some to see a professional. He does have a son who lives in UK. He told me the property was sold for "a hundred and odd thousand" He put the property in the hands of the company th...

Did he have to pay inheritance tax?

Visited my friend Tarquin who used to live on an urbanisation near Estepona, but came back to uk about two years ago. His wife Samantha died about six years ago. They were joint owners of their property. After she died he just carried on living there as if nothing had happened. The property has now ...

The Little Britain lot had a long running sketch on this topic.
Whilst I like a lot of their stuff, I didn't like that one.

Re: Why Do People Pack Up and Leave Their Family To live In Spain ?

This is a very interesting thread. Thanks for starting it Gordon. The flip side is why wouldn't someone want to uproot, and move to Spain. Us.... we had a little holiday home for over twenty years which we visited about three times a year. We sold it a few years back, and when we visit now we rent. ...

Re: Cropping a photo on an iPad.

Thanks Costa Chrissie . ...... I know it's gonna happen sooner or later, as for everyone else. When parents died we struggled a bit with photos and choice of music. My missus will have enough to cope with, so I've drafted out the order of service, chosen the songs, written a farewell and thanks for ...

Re: Cropping a photo on an iPad.

Thanks Costa. I want to get it in a form that can be used on my order of service when I snuff it. ( not that I intend checking out just yet) I can leave it on the iPad and leave it to someone to send it to the funeral directors as an email atatchment. But I'd like to have it in a more permanent form...

Re: Cropping a photo on an iPad.

Cancel that.
My friend Arbuthnot just explained it to me.

Open the photo
Tap the icon which is three horizontal lines
Brings up a grid
I hadn't noticed the Ls in the corners which you can manipulate.

Re: Removing Artex from a ceiling

I think the reason all the houses on our development were artexed is because it is easier and quicker than flat.

Re: Removing Artex from a ceiling

Thanks for all the tips. I'm not doing this myself. It's an insurance job. The other room and hallway are not part of the insurance claim and we will ask the contractor to do those as an extra. If they won't, one of my neighbours is a plasterer and says he will do it. The first thing the loss adjust...

Re: Removing Artex from a ceiling

Thanks. We had a leak and some sections have just fallen off, revealing the plasterboard above. I was wondering if they will be able to use a thin bladed scraper to prise the rest off. While we have the mess we intend to do the same in the adjacent room which was undamaged.

Removing Artex from a ceiling

Anyone done this?

Is it possible to scrape the artex off or do you need to remove the plaster board and start again.

Thanks

Improving your Spanish.

I don't live in Spain, but I visit from time to time. I was never much good at languages at school, but became interested when we bought a holiday home. We haven't got it now, and just rent when we come. I like to try and speak Spanish and I took my GCSE a few years ago. I don't really visit enough ...
