Re: Dental implants

Olive maybe that's the dentist's charges for his labour and the materials are on top. About 16 years ago I had two crowns fitted here and they were 750€. (My friend had a single implant done in Nerja 2 or 3 years ago and that was 1000€ and took about 3 months in total, and that didn't include healin...

Re: Weather

The east coast and Balearics seem to be getting it much worse. The weather here appears to follow a roughly 5 year cycle of drought then rain. Our first visit to house hunt in 1996 was in terrible rain, 'the worse for 200 years' was quoted a lot, and that was after a 5 year drought. We had quite a l...

Re: Samsung Smart TV - change Apps region

Changing DNS settings won't necessarily get you UK apps on your TV as this is a workaround to get you access to ipayer etc. I have an LG smart tv,. I find that if i connect it to a UK VPN i have the iplayer and other UK tv apps. If i connect it direct to my non-vpn network they disappear. Reconnect...

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

There doesn't seem to be any pattern in what people get away with here. I know of a couple in a block of flats that were immediately reported for starting to refurbish their apartment, whereas others on urbanisations have done complete renovations without any licence with no comebacks. I think it ve...

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

I don't know about that. Whether it doesn't matter as the pool itself is technically removable, I'm not sure. I presume that is the reason why they say it doesn't need any permission.

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

We have a poliester pool but it sits completely on top of the ground so we didn't need permission. A friend's is partially sunk though, as in the picture, and he was also told he doesn't need permission for it. In theory it could lifted out and be taken away again, the same way as it was delivered o...

Re: Multifunction printers

I know I can get a dongle but I was trying to keep things simple. I never print from my phone and don't have an iPad and I didn't really want to have to spend any more money on my computer :( Buying a new printer is a pain as it is!

Re: Multifunction printers

Can you get a laser printer/copier/scanner? I only print in b&w and my HP Deskjet is going the same way as the previous one in that it has stopped copying and will only scan if I go through the HP program I have on the computer. I have to scan items then print them as the copier doesn't work whi...

Re: New Car v Used Car

The quoted prices I have seen for new cars, always assume that you are taking out finance and as you say if you want to pay cash are much more expensive. Trouble is that I am old school and I hate having credit, especially if I have the money to pay cash for the item. I wondered if anyone has had a...

Re: Renewing of Padron

You're so right Gerry. In Almunecar they charge €10 and you have to pay in a local bank and go back to collect it. It's easier renewing your driving licence! Sid Good grief, that's a price! It's free in Torrox too. Last month when I needed one I just showed them an old 'volante' and asked for a new...

Re: Best Android or other TV service box

My internet is fast so that has never been the reason for the buffering. 350 megas. Crikey, out here in the campo, I am lucky to get much above 5Meg, meant to be 10, but rarely get that. Hmmnnn, maybe you should look for a different supplier. We are in the campo and have a 15 meg connection. Whenev...

Re: New Car v Used Car

Not sure if I really need 4wd, have only neede to use the 4wd on Galloper a couple of times, mainly down on river bed, however it has got large wheels with lots of traction. That was our problem when considering changing our 4x4. Most of our track is cemented but on very odd occasions need the 4WD ...

Re: New Car v Used Car

My dinky car struggles up the hill a bit but hope it lasts as long as yours! We were impressed by Malaga Car as the car was ready to collect within the week of first seeing it, and the paperwork was sent through to me in 3 weeks, all included in the price.

Re: New Car v Used Car

The trouble with ex rental cars is they have 80 plus drivers in 2 years most of which are not used to left hand drive. Crunching gears and hitting kerbs. LOL I have had an ex rental car before and was very pleased with it which is why I've bought another, and I know of a number of people who have d...

Re: New Car v Used Car

Best to go and speak to the dealers as I know friends have managed to get good deals on new cars and the website never seems to show the actual price of a car. Most deals seem to involve taking out their finance though (which I didn't want) so I wasn't able to calculate the actual total price when I...

Re: Exchanging UK driving Licence for a Spanish one

I've needed my licence for hiring a car for numerous trips over the last 6 months so didn't want to be without it for a few weeks but I have a gap in my travels coming up so will do it then. I thought one of the medical centres did the licence application for you as well as the medical, but maybe th...

Re: Exchanging UK driving Licence for a Spanish one

Just going through the process. Medical was how much do you weigh. Blood pressure test. Eye test. Then a quick computer game test , keeping the ball on two roads at the same time. Pretty simple. A few questions like alchohol consumption. Smoking etc. Photo taken and a certificate issued to be hande...

Re: iPlayer on TV no subtitles

I uninstalled the app and re-installed it. The subtitles still weren't working but the next day they were back, so I guess I should have turned the TV off and on again. Glad to be able to follow all those mutterings and mumblings again on my favourite dramas!

Re: Drinking water at airports

Terry the drinking fountain is behind the toilets next to Wetherspoons. It is in the area where people needing assistance wait, where the golf buggies are. Wasn't easy to find! Perhaps when they've finished the works there may be toilets on the ground floor at the other end and a drinking fountain t...
