Duplicate Ficha tecnica?

A neighbour of mine has a 4x4 that he purchased some 4 years ago. The vehicle has been off road for almost a year now as he cannot find the necessary documents in order to arrange and pass the ITV test. The dealer said that the paperwork was sent to him, but as he lives in the countryside, this neve...

Re: NORAUTO

OK folks, thanks for your replies. It's good to get different people's opinions. I just couldn't accept that they could know this without even removing the wheels! It was certainly apparent once I had removed the wheels that the discs were in fact fine - at least according to my neighbour who knows ...

NORAUTO

I am not sure if there are multiple branches of this Halfords type store across Andalucia, but my partner and I visited the branch at the Miramar centre near Iceland yesterday. We had just noticed a noise coming from the brakes, and were aware that there was a need to address a brake shoe issue on o...

Re: Buying and berthing a boat

I need to check my certificates before I drive a friend's boat then! I have the Powerboat level 2, Dayskipper and Coastal Skipper (equivalent to yachtmaster? - not sure). I did a whole week around the Solent in a single screw Grand Banks called Jumna. One of the weeks of my life! Assuming that none ...

I'm going to the airport tomorrow evening and carrying on westwards to get a few bits from Iceland and am not sure when it closes - anybody know? Thanks.

How to scrap a car

Having recently bought a replacement car, our old Peugeot 306 is now headed for the garage in the sky. There is an old thread on here that went into this a bit, but may be out of date as it's over 5 years old. In short, can anybody tell me how to go about scrapping a car and the paperwork involved? ...

Re: Old black & White photo negatives - help!

That's a very kind offer - I may have to take you up on it!. I have a Canon scanner - that wouldn't be able to scan negatives would it?

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

Thanks folks. I'm going to go and ask at the test station in Algarrobo this week. For anyone interested I'll post what I find on here!

Old black & White photo negatives - help!

I have a few old negatives in the very old formats - don't even know what they're called anymore - from around the mid 70's. A few are something like an inch and a half square. Others are approx. two and a half inches by one and a half. Does anybody have the means to print them for me? If so, how mu...

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

Our problem was partly that we had limited finance - ended up with a 2002 model with a genuine 95,000 miles on it. Being a diesel we consider that to be a fare mileage. Paid over the odds for it (almost 3,500) but it is immaculate - was very well looked after, not a scratch and with a very clean int...

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

True Sid!

Part of our dilemma was also that we wanted a particular car (VW Passat diesel estate with manual box).

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

Thanks all for your opinions/advice - all welcome. I figure that maybe she was referring to Algeciras as the only place outside of Madrid in this region that you can have the test done - although I must admit I was surprised to hear it and would like to know for sure if it's true - I will go to the ...

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

Good question Miro - maybe I misunderstood her.

One other thing for anyone esle importing in a similar situation. Apparently in such instance as this, the very first ITV test on importation has to be done in either Madrid (!) or Algeciras!! Day trip to Gibraltar coming on!

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

I just met with an import agent who says that it's RHD pick-ups that aren't allowed anymore - rhd cars are still no problem. She states that the government are basically trying to protect their own car industry by deliberately making it more and more difficult or prohibitively expensive for it to be...

Re: That subject again - importing a car!

Thanks Sid - it's RHD!! None of the agents we are talking to about importing the car have suggested not being able to import a RHD. I need to check with them about that. Thanks.

That subject again - importing a car!

Not sure how wise it was (reading other people's opinions!) but we just bought a car in the UK and have brought it to Spain to import. We are resident here and have been for almost 6 years. Q. Do we have 6 months to import the car or does this process have to be done immediately? Q. If there is a 6 ...
