Re: Bank recommendation?

Be careful of Cajamar (Caja Rural) Charges went up in June. Now annually €60 account maintenance and €30 for 2 debit cards. The free banking for over 65 has been withdrawn As far as I know it is possible to avoid these charges if you open an "Aportacion" savings account and save €1037 (I ...

Re: Basin taps

This is a bit of a guess based on past experience as plumbing is not something I attack very often. You may have excessive cal or debris in your system. The tap in question may be the first or last outlet on the system and, therefore, collecting said cal or debris. Have you descaled the boiler or o...

Is it not protected under the equivalent of the FSCS up to a limit of 100,000 euro?

[quote="susanspain" OH is 65 this year - and then there will be no more charges! (All pensioners get free banking! ;) ?[/quote] My wife and I have a joint account with Cajamar and are both over 65 . We were hit with the 15euro charge on 16th June. When we enquired the only way to avoid the...

Same with me. The only charge I've ever had was for the renewal of my non-resident status.

Re: Renewing non resident NIE help please

I've looked at old posts on this subject and found no clear answers so............I'll try afresh. I have a non resident NIE dated from May 2009 and have used this for any admin purposes up until a few weeks ago when I went to register with my local health centre. They pointed out that my NIE was o...

Re: using iphone for internet

Have a look at Simyo

www.simyo.es

They have a pay as you go tariff

"tarifa 0 cent y 8 cent" that might suit you for short visits. Data is 3 cent/Mb +IVA

You'll need a Spanish debit/credit card though.

Re: MiFi Router for home & travel USB Dongle

What do you use your current dongle with? I know that with an Apple Macbook it is possible to share an internet connection and allow other devices to connect to the internet. Not sure if this is possible with a PC - maybe someone else might know.

Many thanks for the quick response Beachcomber

Do you know if there is there any responsibility on my part to withhold 3% (I think it is) in respect of the vendors tax liability?

Private purchase of a lock up garage

Hi I've found a lock up garage that is for sale privately i.e. it is not for sale through an estate agent. The owner is Spanish and speaks no English. I speak no Spanish worth talking about. Through an interpreter I understand that the vendor says that we only need to go to a notary who will "l...

Re: Buying a lock-up garage/imputed income tax

Many Thanks for your replies. I had thought that I wouldn't be responsible for his tax but I just wanted confirmation. I do understand that if I go ahead with the purchase that I will need to fill in two 210 forms (or 4, that is, as it will probably be jointly owned with my wife) and submit in June ...

Buying a lock-up garage/imputed income tax

Hi I'm thinking about buying a lock-up garage in the basement of an adjacent apartment block. I understand that my solicitor will check that the vendor has paid the community fees and IBI (the electricity is paid communally and there is no water). Do I need to concern myself as to whether or not the...

Re: Peak, Off-peak times

Many Thanks Masterob for pointing me in the right direction.

I had looked under "Numeros Novecientos" which I thought was the most appropriate for a 902 number but didn't see any reference to peak/off-peak times.

Re: Peak, Off-peak times

Thanks for your replies. I had read somewhere that when calling 902 numbers - which I believe can be expensive - that there were different rates applicable during peak and off-peak times but the article didn't say what these timebands are. I think at home in the UK peak would be 8:00 am to 8:00pm bu...
