Well.... we took out a small mortgage on our UK house last October, paid it off yesterday. :)

Have enough money left to renew the lease on the flat our son has just bought (it only has 66 years left). He can't afford it himself and this was part of the 'family financial planning'.

Home improvememts to our property and his.

Money set aside for decent car when ours finally dies (It is 15 years old and has done nearly 200,000 miles, still going strong at the moment). We will keep it as long as it is going. It has been imported to, and exported from, Spain and now has the original plates it started with!

And of course plenty of holidays :)

Scampicat, I am taking my imported to Spain LHD car back to UK and I wondered if the DVLA would offer the option of the original plates going back on. Is it something you have to ask for? or is it an automatic process? :?:

The lady at DVLA asked us if we remembered what the old number was and we said yes, and asked her if we could have it back again, so I assume if the number has not been re-allocated, then you can have it back.

We went in person to the DVLA, I suppose if you applied by post you could put a letter in asking if you could have the same number.

Scampicat, thanks for the information concerning the registration plate, I will see what I can sort out once I get back.
