Re: £1.7bn EU demand
I'm sorry,
Now I'm supposed to understand your cryptic message that a a newspaper article, posted by you that completely conflicts your opinion and supports mine which is that I believe UKIP is given disproportionate airtime given that they only have one MP, means the exact opposite.
UKIP is promising to take The UK back into the promised land. I think the BBC and all journalists are right to question this.

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Why would I read personal comments? What's that got to do with anything?
I watch Question Time and David Dimbleby does from time to time correct people when they misquote facts and figures or comments.
But surely, he is there to chair the debate, not to get involved.

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
So irritating that certain "nameless" posters (you know who you are) simply see a Headline and not read the full article and just put up a link.
Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Well you may as well just name me hadn't you. Didn't think it would be long before some nameless poster came on and got personal instead of debating.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. Many, like Mark and the article, think the BBC isn't biased at UKIP because they give them a profile but they have a hidden aim, to trip them UKIP up.
Anyway, carry on insulting if you have nothing useful to say, it's like water off a ducks back

Can't see a personal insult at all (bit paranoid?), but if the "cap fits"

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
I know why I don't think the BBC is biased and I don't agree with your opinion that the BBC only put UKIP on to trip them up, although I do think Farage makes good TV and that might be why he's on so much.katy wrote: Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. As I see it, UKIP don't need the BBC to put their foot in it.

Not like Ken Clarke this morning what
Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Why do you always let her get away with it, just ignore her posts.
Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Here we go another one who wasn't interested in the thread until they spotted an opportunity to have a go....NEXT. Good advice though why don't you do the same
I shan't be answering anymore unless you want to keep on topic.

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
UK NET contribution rose by ONE THIRD last year to £11.3 billion. Net payments have quadrupled over the last 5 years.
The Chief Executive of Business for Britain said
"We cannot continue to write bigger cheques to be a member of an unreformed and uncompetitive EU. Businesses struggle under mounds of red tape and we are threatened by another Eurozone recession"
However, I can understand why a tiny few expats don't want to see the status quo upset and threaten them.

Do you really believe that?katy wrote:However, I can understand why a tiny few expats don't want to see the status quo upset and threaten them.
I don't see many A.com members being in favour of the EU. I think I'm the most outspoken in favour of continued membership and whether the UK is in or out, it wouldn't make any difference to me. By the time I retire, I will have lived and worked here 20 years, my wife will have paid into the Spanish system more than 35 years.
I would suppose that nothing would change for most expats, if Britain left the UK .
Even if we lost the right to live here due to not being a member, most on this forum have lived in Spain long enough to have the right to continued residence under Spanish law.

Yes I agree, I don't think it will make much difference, but many expats are scared, seen it stated on here.
It may not be the UK who is the first to leave, let's see.

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Sorry folks.....
The UK is going nowhere....
There will be a compromise of sorts. No one wants to lose face. Five years down the line, hopefully a Conservative government, but the same old arguments will be around.
Spain will still be struggling.
The UK deficit will have grown.
You read it here first.

Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Not sure the UK could pay the cancellation of membership fee. Angela is a much more wily politician that some think and she's up to something with her threats to throw the UK out of the club. The only sure thing is that is what is NOT going to happen.
Re: £1.7bn EU demand
Could be Spain who opts out of the EU first. Podemos are looking good in the polls.

If they throw out the UK they will have to drastically cut the expenditure budget without our £12billion.
Re: £1.7bn EU demand
What everyone seems to have forgotten is that from 1st November 2014 there were 43 EU rules changed. It is no longer one vote one country in the EU but now goes of population of countries so Germany and France together could veto any argument. UK wouldn´t stand a chance and Cameron has known this was coming for months now. We all know he will end up paying this demand.
The problems in the UK are of the fault of the 3 main governments who have mismanaged the country and are the only member within the EU who abide by every rule generated by Brussels ably assisted by the civil servants governed by the EU. UK governments are in power for only 5 years which means no forward thinking just what happens in their term of office. The electorate vote for the person they think will do well for their constituency forgetting that once in power they must tow the party line even if it is against their principles, the will of the British people or the countries interests.
Just my opinion which I am sure will be ruthlessly ripped to sheds on this forum.
