Rubber-faced posh boy Camoron can hardly say he speaks for Scotland with but one solitary MP.

Perhaps Krankie should campaign for the whole of the UK to be allowed to vote on Scotland's independence. That way she will be absolutely certain of a 'Yes' vote.

Rather a silly comment, but I assume it's tongue in cheek! If not, would you be in favour of all the countries in the EU having a vote on whether the UK should remain in Europe or not?

Different situation, the EU is not a nation...at least not yet

If Europe would vote to kick us out I would say bring it on but they won't bite the hand that feeds it. Remember we are one of the largest contributors.

Not tongue in cheek at all and not comparable in any way for the reasons stated by Katy.

UK tax payers are subsidising Scotland so why should they not have a say in its future relationship with the rest of the UK?

Surely UK taxpayers include the Scots?? Presumably you meant English, Welsh and Northern Irish taxpayers ?

I'm not quite sure if they contribute to their own subsidy but they want full fiscal autonomy which is fine as long as their subsidy is terminated along with their right to vote on the rest of the UK's fiscal matters in the Westminster parliament.

Personally I would rather see them leave the UK altogether although this would be very hard on a number of Scottish friends who find the SNP in general and the Krankie woman in particular to be totally abhorrent.

Yes, denying that there are Scots who hold this opinion is absolutely in line with the totalitarian aspirations of Mrs Krankie and her bully boys.

I don't like to agree with Beachcomber on all things political but I definitely think especially Salmond (Who acts as though he won the independence vote) and to a lesser extent Sturgeon are getting ahead of themselves and their gloating might backfire on themselves.

They need to remember that Scotland voted to stay in the Union and as such those who voted NO are still highly likely to vote NO .

I'm sure that many NO voters voted for stronger representation in Westminster and a push for further devolution, not for another independence referendum.

...and I find myself agreeing with Mark.

There are apparently 4,2 million people eligible to vote in Scotland of which 1.454.436 (just over one third) voted for the SNP which makes me wonder how the other 2.745.564 would vote in another referendum.

Getting silly now. How many eligible voters in the UK? What percentage of them voted Tory?

Anyway, on a lighter note, now that Farage has decided he will remain as UKIP leader, I saw this tweet from Sean Kemp.
Nigel Farage's resignation being rejected by UKIP shows he has lost all control of the party. He should stand down immediately.

Pointless question. England isn't planning to leave the UK.

Didn't say it was. I was simply taking your scenario about registered voters and asking what percentage of registered voters voted for the Tories. If you take registered voters, that also includes people who have passed on.

Therefore number not voting Tory = 34,804,980

UKIP got 3,881,129 votes yet only 1 seat
Libdems got 2,415,888 votes and 8 seats
SNP got 1,454,436 voyes and 56 seats

First past the post has had its day.

And People not voting UKIP = 42,258,771

Even under PR, they would struggle.

Morning mark. I saw this piece re PR and the recent election. The seats won would have looked like this using the D'Hondt system. Intersting reading.

Con: 249
Lab: 200
UKIP: 83
Libdem: 50
Green: 25
SNP: 25
Others: 18

Interesting, that would be a dream ticket for me. However, I have always been anti PR as it leads to wish you washy Governments like happens in Italy, often they collapse within months. Clearly the system needs reform but not sure what kind.
