¡Hola todos!

Postby ChrisM » Fri Jun 12, 2015 10:11 pm

I've been on and off this site for over ten years, and rate it as the best of its kind. I live in England and have visited the Calahonda, Benalmádenda area on and off over that period as we have relatives there.

With retirement a few years away and in terms of exploring options, I reckon renting for a few months at a time - especially over the winter - is the best option in terms of assessing purchase/rental options.

I'm sure others here have gone down the same path, and I would welcome their views.

Cheers

Chris

Hi, I think it would helpful if you outlined your expectations/preferences of amenities etc otherwise the replies would be of limited value.

Good point. Wish lists are what they are and tempered by reality, but:
- Close to shops, restaurants, amenities but not hectic/within earshot of noisy clubs etc.
- Not touristy. We appreciate Spain and its culture.
- Security: restricted access.
- Car not essential. I understand the coastal rail system is good?
- We'd rather pay more for quality than go cheap/get junk.

They're the main points.

Elviria or Urbanisation Rosario fills all your requirements. Would have to be the lower part if no car and there is no railway after Fuengirola. Personally Calahonda is a no no. You could look at LA Cala de Mijas too.

Thanks - I have, but only recently. Costa Tropical? Based on my little research so far, it certainly looks more traditional; property prices look lower; closer to Granada. Much more research to do though!
