Re: Why?
Are you not an amigo? You certainly have enough posts to get into the lounge. I think you have to send an email and they will upgrade your status.

Re: Why?
I think the requirements for the lounge were drastically redcuced a while back, to just 30 posts. This means that genuine forum members can get to see non-Spain related topics, but keeps out spammers/scammers etc

Re: Why?
The objectives of this forum are clearly stated at the top of every forum page. It says "Sharing information and discussions about Andalucia".
On that basis, discussions about UK politics, for example would be excluded. Clearly, a large group of British Expats will have various views on such diverse subjects and wish to use the forum to discuss them. The General section is only for discussions about Andalucia that do not fall into the many specific categories that exist within he forum.
To allow such discussions it was decided to allow them within the Amigo's Lounge. Originally the criteria for access was set fairly high at 250 posts before a member was allowed access. The subject of access was discussed on the forum and it was decided that the access requirement would be reduced to only 25 posts. This, albeit small, restriction was placed to avoid the possibility of new members joining just to post controversial subjects with the only objective of making "troll" posts.
Unfortunately members who qualify for access with 25 posts have to request access. The forum software is due to be upgraded and hopefully, when that has been completed, access will be automatic rather than having to request it.
The current procedure is for any member who meets the 25 post criteria to PM or email one of the moderators to request access. Usually the request is processed within 24 hours but it may take longer depending on the availability of the technical staff to make the changes.
So, for the time being, please bear with us on these requirements and I hope that it will soon become an automatic process.
