Hmm. Shall we get back on topic...you know, the Spain election....anything happening? Saw a headline yesterday that Rajoy said their should not be a third election. Seems that Spain is limping along quite nicely without a Government and Rajoy seems to be happy carrying on as a limp PM. Any thoughts?

A process which could well be expedited by attempts by the European Union to impost a fine of over two billion euros for failing to meet deficit targets on Spain which is already at number seven in the list of countries whose citizens want a referendum on membership. I suppose Juncker and his cronies are looking for ways of filling the impending black hole in their income even if it is to impose ridiculously high fines on an impoverished country which is barely able to feed some of its own population.

Even the Europhile posterior licking Guindos has been unable to change his masters' minds saying that 'he hopes' they will set the quota at zero but, just think, the situation would be a hundred times worse if the Spanish left wing anti-austerity parties had their way.

Banks will lend money to the paupers to pay their fines. The paupers will then owe the banks money they cannot pay back but it doesn't matter as the banks will lend them money to pay back the banks. Just remember what happened to Greece.

I think, apart from Spain as mentioned in my previous post, the other country facing a fine is Portugal not Italy, not that it makes any difference to the ludicrousness of the situation.

With Italian banks dead in the water, BREXIT will be a piece of cake to the EU, they have far more to worry about.

And Yes, Spain, Portugal and Greece are just barely fumbling along.

It seems that Sánchez has resigned as leader of the PSOE, over his stance of not allowing the PP to form a minority government.

We might see a resolution to this pretty shortly now.

Indeed. But will it be an effective government?

No it won't but at least it will be a government and after a year or so there can be another election.
