I have tried to sign this today.
Everything went fine, except the validating e-mail never arrived from uk.gov.
The same thing happened with the Brexit petition - no returned e-mail.
Anyone else had the same problem?

Have refrained from doing it a second time, in case I get locked out for that reason.

From the .Gov website" Only British citizens and UK residents can create or sign a petition."
Maybe you need a VPN

I've signed a number of these and never needed a VPN. I just signed this petition and got the email back in a few seconds.

I did one for my wife and the email went straight into Trash!

Just done it and looked for the e-mail in 'Junk'. It was there. The whole thing took less than a minute.

I'm now going to pass this on. Thanks for the link.

I wasn't aware anyone was campaigning to stop or not to renegotiate reciprocal arrangements? I'd certainly sign a sensibly worded petition if I felt there was a movenment against. But I haven't seen one. I find the wording quite bizarre. Surely we need an agreement for all, not just 'British pensioners' living in the EU? How many Spanish retirees live in the UK?

Just an aside I saw last week that EU politians were beginning to weaken there strict 'you're in or out stance' coming up with imaginative ideas to maintain the strongest links after Brexit . All good stuff and moving in the right direction I think.

It is British citizen or UK resident so it shouldn't be a problem for us here to sign it. I have done it without any problems and email came through straight away.

There is no need for reciprocity, as anyone registered as living in the UK gets NHS healthcare after a short while.....as usual, excessive generosity by the liberal left. UK pensioners living outside the UK can of course go there for treatment with full cover, not just EHIC.

I can't see how the liberal left can be accused of that. The Conservatives have had years to change it, although it might be very unpopular if the rules were changed. The main difference from Spain is you have to be or have been contributing and in the UK you have to be a resident.

Peter you seem to be assuming the negotiations are one sided. That the EU could withdraw rights and the UK would not be able to retaliate.

The problem IMHO with this petition is it doesn't offer a balance; just "I want".

Until the Tories find a PM with cojones there will not be a politician in parliament that would dare tackle the mess that is the NHS. There are far too many lefties in the service with the socialist attitude of 'give anybody anything they want' irrespective of whether they have done anything to deserve it. Laudable though their aim is, they stop any reforms to move it towards living within its means.
