Gibraltar - Spanish or British?

Postby Miro » Thu Dec 01, 2016 7:35 pm

I received the following via WhatsApp today from our administrator (who is also involved in local politics) - I assume he just mass-sent it, without any thought about what I or any other British contacts he has might think  What shocked me was the result of the vote so far: over 90% of respondents think "Spanish". Either Telegraph readers don't give a hoot about Gib or the views of it's citizens, or they actually do think we should hand it over, or the link has spread quickly via social media etc. in Spain and is skewed as a result. I don't want to get into the debate particularly, apart from to say that I think any debate about Gib's sovereignty should go hand in hand with a discussion about Melilla & Ceuta (not to mention a silly little rock called Isla Perejil, which the Spanish navy so bravely defended from a Moroccan goat herder not so long ago).

"Vota. Es un periódico INGLÉS sobre el peñon y le hundimos la encuesta... Tardas 9-10 segundos.

Debajo hay una encuesta:
¿¿ Is Gibraltar English or Spanish ??
Señala: Spanish

Reenvíalo a todo el mundo. Vota y les machacamos la encuesta.
Yo ya he votado"

Thought it was over 99%, which at the end of the day should be all that matters, surely?

The Spanish vote is irrelevant really because its is the same as asking an Argi if they should have the Falklands.

It is much easier to be in a dictatorship as recent events have shown that people should never be asked for their opinion...perhaps there could be a cutoff qualification of an IQ in excess of 140, except that could include Boris!
