Funny, I just had a large mushroom stuffed with fried chorizo & egg - a sort of made-up tapas with bits I had handy. This seems to be becoming a foodie thread (sorry). Speaking of angels on horseback - reminds me of an Argentinian restaurant in Torremolinos (Che Bolú, highly recommended) which has a variety of "Milanesa a caballo" on the menu; first time we saw this, we were somewhat confused - but not as much as the waiter, when we asked him if it was horse meat!
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Streaky bacon works well for wrapping the dates, 'ordinary' bacon tends to break in all the wrong places. In Spain we always used Oscar Meyer bacon which works a treat. I can't be sure, but I think the first time I had them was in a resort on the CDS... ;-)

Merry Christmas to one and all :)
It’s just about time for me to go into self-induced exile in the kitchen and start the preparations for the traditional family feast tomorrow. By 5.30 tomorrow afternoon I will be (more than a little) relaxed having enjoyed the fruits of my labour.

And the weather has warmed up nicely today with a very balmy 71f degrees in Torre del Mar this lunchtime and due to stay warm for the next week at least

Just what we need (NOT) when we are desperate for water. Really need a month of rain.

What we need and what we get is down to mother nature and I certainly didn't witness anyone walking along the prom in Torre today cursing the warm sunshine.....just enjoying it for what it was.
