It looks to me that you are going to avoid the worst of it - come 24 hours later and it would be a different story. It will still be pretty bumpy though.

The ferries tend to hug the coast all the way down which avoids the worst of it. They are pretty big boats and very well stabilised but I would make sure you have some Stugeron handy!

To start with, it was not a cyclone, just a severe Atlantic depression, moving north through Spain and Portugal giving very strong winds on the northern Spanish coast. It was christened Storm Felix by the Spanish Met Office. The remains of it are currently sitting in the English Channel.

A couple of nights ago and yesterday there were some quite strong winds here but certainly no cyclone. In fact, the weather has been quite pleasant and mild for the time of year, notwithstanding, the wind.

I was only going by what the article in the paper was stating. We came over on the ferry on Friday night and although it was choppy it was nowhere near what the paper was stating. I took a stugeron and slept from 10pm right through to 8am!

I'm glad your trip was OK. The moral is to ignore all such weather articles you read in newspapers, especially the free ones, although the Mail and Express publish totally sensationalised rubbish about the weather every day. In the UK they are talking about "The beast from the east 2".

There are loads of (reasonably) accurate sources on the Internet. I like http://www.eltiempo.es
