Costa de sol news
Went to my local paper shop to collect my Costa and was told that it had finished, not sure if that meant that particular shop was no longer selling it. Anyone else had problems?

Yes...sorry to say, the CDSN finished last week. There was an editorial "Goodbye" giving the reasons on page 3. Costa Almeria News and some others continue in their areas.

They were taken over by a Spanish sounding company some years ago and they have just now decided to close it, presumably falling sales although the Editor did not give an actual reason. It all sounded a bit sad!

Not online either. Gone forever I’m afraid.

That's a shame and country boys post regarding falling sales was probably right with not enough advertising sales to sustain it..I will miss it!

Well obviously not enough people bought it!...advertising sales must have been well down too due to lack of circulation...Yes it was online and there lies the problem...I know people had to buy the newsprint version to read all the stories in full but the sheer fact that headlines and short story versions was news in itself didnt help the print sales..

Re: Costa de sol news
The one news publication ..( if you can call it that) which must be doing ok is the one which is free on all hotel and apartment reception desk tops...Its basic and hardly changes..easy to produce..usual emergency phone numbers etc..editorial is 2hrs work..the advertising is more than enough to pay for it and print costs will be around 47p a full page...A good little earner...

I believe the "Sur in English" is still going, though it's not so interesting since they closed the forum, many years ago.
The forum was never properly regulated and there were some outrageous posts there, some of them leading to death threats (only from keyboard warriors of course)
It was quite funny to witness the insults being traded, unfortunately it spiralled out of control so they quite rightly closed it down !!

Re: Costa de sol news
I stopped picking up the ‘Sur’ when the blatant prostitution ads became the majority. They should rename it ‘Pimps in English’.

Re: Costa de sol news
They have all gone now. That must have lost them a fortune in advertising. 500 adverts every week no longer.

That's because they're all controlled by the eastern European community in Banus, my mate was there 2 weeks ago and told me it's unbelievably tacky now
