A/C electricity usage

Postby ashtondav » Tue Nov 01, 2005 2:24 pm

Most peculiar...

I rent out my 2 bed apartment near Nerja, and its been occupied since May by various holiday makers.

On August 11 I installed A/C in two of the rooms.

I have just got the first after A/C electric bill and the usage per week has been 77 KWH. In the 8 weeks prior to the installation the usage per week was 120 KWH.

Could people have been over compensating with the cooling and overhead fans? Or do you think it was heavy cooker users in the early weeks? Or miserly peops in the later weeks? Or an inaccurate meter reading? Or was it nice and cool in CDS mid august to mid october?

Insight always welcome.....

Sevillana/Endesa sometimes estimate readings based on an average of the consumption of previous periods.

I know for a fact that my meter is only read once or twice a year although I do live in the middle of nowhere.

Endesa have a facility for entering your meter readings online - that's what I do. They even have an option for estimating your next bill based on your meter readings.

Not a lot of help if you are renting but a useful service for residents.
