Registered Users - Puzzled

Just catching up and read some of the postings in "Moving to Andalucia", with references to Amigos Forum. scrolled down, found I wasn't welcome there, and scrolled down to the bottom of the list of forums, and came across this:

In total there are 17 users online :: 5 Registered, 3 Hidden and 9 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]
Most users ever online was 66 on Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:31 am
Registered Users: annie_d, Beachcomber, hillybilly, katy, Retro P

Whilst having great respect for Beach, Katy et al, anyone know why I (who I thought registered a while ago) isn't shown as a "Registered User"?

What constitutes one as a Registered User?

do you 'log in' when you come onboard?
if you don't log in, i don't think your name shows up
you're one of the number or guests on line...
if i'm wrong, i'm wrong...

I keep permanently logged in (as far as I know) because I used to get grumpy with myself or the system that when I wanted to respond to a post, I had to log in first.

When I look at my options now, I see that I can "log out" so I presume that I am permanently logged in.

Maybe Admin can advise?

Actually - i VERY rarely register when i check online although i am presently chatting in pm to a couple of members. I am very surprised that i was actually "registered". I look in for an hour a day and register for about 5 minutes!!! Zanuck you must have caught me at one of those minutes!

i can remember your name appearing at the bottom off and on
maybe you're in a glitch pattern here...
i've seen people appear and disappear from the 'on-line' legend and
i've known full-well they're on-board...

The mystery is solved.

I received a PM from a regular contributor, who suggested that in my profile settings I had elected to keep my online status hidden.

Checked my profile and indeed it was the case. Unchecked the box, and there I am, visible for all to see.

Old age, and setting profiles when you don't really know what it is you are doing, or if you should check yes or no, will be the ruin of us all.
