Re: What do you consider to be the real Spain
None of that stuff ever works for me, Frank. The Smilies are OK though. :D
They don't work for me either. :-) See! Nor the quote facility, nada de nada. It's funny ADC never have a problem writing to me to give me a "rollicking" as regards quotes, but can't answer my post to them. Perhaps I should mention the lady with the big bits, that should get their attention.
Regards, Frank

... but Mowser, they wouldn't dare not work for you, would they?
Re: What do you consider to be the real Spain
Ah! Problem solved! My mention of the girl with the big bits must have grabbed ADC´s attention. Just received a PM from them telling me that as they have advised me a couple of times about using quotes, they have decided to punish me by removing the facility! ;-) Can't do proper smilies! Rather than guess who is answering who about what, I think quotes are necessary, or presumably they wouldn't include them. Never ever had a problem in any other forum, but it seems ADC is **** about them.

Frank
You must have had a warning first. When I first started posting and quoted a poster there wasn't a problem. A problem eventually arose if I quoted a post that had been quoted a number of times.
I received a "warning." Since then I only quote the relevant parts of a post.

Re: What do you consider to be the real Spain
What is the problem with a quote? There is a little box at the top right hand corner of each post, that says 'quote'.
If they don't want you to use the 'quote' button, then why the **** is it there in the first place

I think it depends if one uses the quote to make constructive discussion or otherwise.

Re: What do you consider to be the real Spain
Mowser, yes I said that in my post, "they have advised me a couple of times about using quotes". I thought I was using them judiciously, but obviously they don't, and as they are running the show they have the right to show me a red card. But having received it and after viewing some other posts with huge quotes, I think they must all be Masons! ;-) I'm not at all worried about it, just find it all a bit childish.

I am not at liberty to say if they are masons or not. I do not wish my innards to be strewn along the costas.I think they must all be Masons!

No innards involved - but your tongue might be at risk - and forget any strewing.... it'll be one place, in the sands of the sea, where the tide regularly ebbs and flows twice in 24 hours....Mowser wrote: I am not at liberty to say if they are masons or not. Err - Said too much already...

Kahuna, according to ADC, that is a complete no no, quoting the message above! They have informed me in the past, it's obvious who I am answering, so no need to quote! They move in mysterious ways!

Re: Quotes
There was a further quote in your quote Frank so if it was 'quote free' I'd be confused - and yes I've had similar messages. ?????
Never had this on any other message boards before - but I guess they are trying to minimise clutter and space on the server!
I'll try harder in future!

Unfortunately our polite requests to "refrain from quoting the preceding post in its entirety" have been misconstrued somewhat. Far from users being warned or "being on a warning," we often request that posters "refrain from quoting the preceding post in its entirety". We feel this takes up too much screen space unnecessarily and makes for long unwieldy pages and in the long run it will account for more server storage space.
If you are replying to another post in sequential order, we credit other members with being able to follow without the need for a quote. If however you are replying to a post one or two places before then by all means quote the relevant part of the text if that makes your post more understandable.
Most users seem to have no problem complying with our request, but for some reason others take great personal offence, which is certainly not intended. Admin merely try to make the noticeboard relevant and useful to as many people as possible and certainly do nothing to encourage the attitude of "us and them" which some members seem to reinforce.
There are no hidden agendas or cases of preferential treatment towards users. We simply want to continue facilitating the forum as a first class source of information about Andalucía for anyone with an interest in the area. Administation of the forum is done so with a view to continuing this service.
Thank you all for your excellent and continued support.

Re: Quotes
Well explained Admin. However I feel the length of your post again does not help with server overload and bandwidth issues.
Surely a simple "Frank, you're a pain the ass" would have sufficed
