I take it work is being sone on the site this weekend, which presumably is why the pages aren't loading properly at times ?

Re: New look !
If you look at the bottom of the page you will see it doesn't seem to have been updated since 2007.

Well, the heading on mine is now a white banner with the lettering in two shades of green; links to Home & Blog, and the date and time are at the top !

Good, maybe the members list, report post and other bugs are about to be repaired.
Updates to the forum software are important as they fix security issues.

Re: New look !
I am not keen and feel an opportunity to modernise has been missed, The Image on screen needs to be wider in this day and age, quick guess but about 40% of my visual area is wasted. This forum, which I like, is the worst offender of all those I visit.
Re: New look !
Plain simple uncluttered, it is fab. I never look at the clutter around the edges

Totally agree with you about message width.Lyric wrote: The Image on screen needs to be wider in this day and age, quick guess but about 40% of my visual area is wasted.
Time the software/ design was updated.
I am on another forum which also uses phpBB and messages appear full screen width.
Cheers

Re: New look !
Just increase the page size with Ctrl + and it will get rid of the borders. In Chrome it remembers the settings for each site - I don't know about other browsers. It won't put more text on the page, but it looks better if you have a small display.Lyric wrote: The Image on screen needs to be wider in this day and age, quick guess but about 40% of my visual area is wasted. .

Re: New look !
In Firefox it doesn't it just scrolls the text size up and down. On A.com I have borders either side about 10cm wide, this happens on hardly any of the other sites I use. I thought it might have been adblock but it's not.
It is probably just out of date software, after all in 2007 most had 4:3 monitors not 16:9 hd as is often the case now.
PS don't like Chrome.

I use Firefox. Ctrl+ just increases the font size, the borders stay the same.El Cid wrote: Just increase the page size with Ctrl + and it will get rid of the borders.

This is how it should look http://www.fincasinspain.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=2
The same version of phpBB seems to be used on both sites.

Re: New look !
Yes, it could be better - I will talk to the boss about it. Upgrading the software is the obvious option but I know from experience on another forum the problems that an upgrade can cause.

Re: New look !
I personaly prefer A.com to the finca site layout.
Re: New look !
Using Firefox, on my desktop PC and laptop, the layout of this site and the Finca's site are exactly the same except this site only occupies about 50% of the available width whereas the Finca's site occupies the full width.
They both use the same phpBB software.
Cheers

increases the width OK.
Looks like it might be a problem associated with Firefox and this site.
OK for all the other sites I use.
Any other Firefox users, already know Lyric has the same problem, experiencing the same problem?
Cheers

Re: New look !
Gerry,
Using Firefox Ctrl + increases font size, borders reduce to nothing, ie fills screen a treat, not much good for you guys as I'm using old 17ins square screens.
A workround....reduce you browser window to a square one.......fill your super wide screens with two square browser windows...........
