Spell Check

Postby Grouser » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:13 pm

Why is the Spell Check American English (If that's not a contradiction in terms) and not English, English?

I don´t know why it´s an American spell checker. I find it annoying, but one could assume that an American or anyone who learned American English would be equally curious if it were an English version.

Do you also find the spellchecker is a little temperamental at times?
Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated into the collective

I use Spellbound in conjunction with Firefox. It spells in UK English and is much faster and more reliable.

Beachomber, Is it Firefox that enables you to do those squinky links like 'click here' to URL's?

No, as much of a fan of Firefox as I am Image I have to admit that you can do this with any browser.

The embedded links are achieved with html programming.

Beachcomber, I looked at the download for firefox and the spec. I already have tabbed browsing, anti spy and pop up blocking on my existing browser. Am I missing something, apart from the add on spell check?

It depends on what browser you are using. Firefox is much more secure and stable than Internet Explorer but if you are using something like Opera you probably would not be gaining anything.
