Do I have to take my UK passport or can I use my Spanish Residencia Card?

:idea: It probably wouldn't hurt to take both one for the Spanish border the other for Gib.

If either passport control officer is having a bad hair day they could refuse one or the other. :roll:

Passport is better if only because you are leaving the EEC when you cross the border. Mind you, with the photograph on mine it is surprising I have been allowed into any country. :lol:

Passport essential because Gibraltar, being part of the UK, is outside the Schengen zone and therefore, on return to Spain you are required to have a valid Passport just as you do entering from the UK.

absolutely agree with masterob, do take your passport. I was turned back on the border a couple of years back with my residents card after queuing for over and hour grrrrrr!!!

We went to Gib two weeks ago and I asked at the passport control if we could use the Residencia Card and it was a straight forward NO.

99% of the time they will let you in with your residencia if you are just walking through but i would recomend you take your passport also

passport is best and covers all eventualities...... :wink: .............keep a photocopy somewhere as well in case it gets pinched :!: :!:

The biggest risk of entering without a passport is that the Spanish will not let you back in without one - not that the border police are ever obstructive of course!!
