manchester / Jerez

Postby .:JONTY:. » Fri Nov 16, 2007 9:49 pm

Does anybody know the prospects of any airlines flying Manchester / Jerez in June / July 2008?
It's a pity Monarch cancelled my return flight from Jerez next week, now I’ve got to go via Sevilla/Gatwick/Manchester with a tight transfer at Gatwick!

I've been watching this closely myself as I too was gutted that Monarch withdrew. I've come to the conclusion that it's very unlikely anyone else will take it on this year

I'm booking Manchester - Malaga. It means a long drive down to the Costa de la Luz but it's not that bad down the toll road, much better than the drive from home to Stansted down the A1

You can go MAN - Stuttgart - Jerez, but it takes hours and is around £180!
Best bet is direct from Stansted for £65 return inclusive.....look at skyscanner.net and fiddle around with "any" uk airport, to Jerez, but click the "Direct Flights only" box.

Isn't it easier to fly Seville to Liverpool than via Gatwick to Manchester?

Yes Roz Seville / Liverpool is an alternative but my UK base is 12 miles from MAN and on the wrong side of Manchester for a connection from Liverpool. Thanks anyway

Sometimes there are good deals to FARO in the Algarve. There are certainly a greater choice of airlines. I have used this route once and hired a car at Faro to drive around to Seville area. The road from Faro to Seville is very easy on toll free motorway. To get to Jerez I would estimate that it can take about 3 hours. Probably slightly longer than the drive from Malaga to Jerez.

Is flying into Gib any good? It's another option for going up to the Costa de la Luz.

Thanks All
The only solution appears to be Manchester / Malaga with bmibaby £92.00 return, not bad for June/July, and with respectable flight times.
It's a shame that the Monarch Manchester / Jerez has been suspended. Jerez is only 45 minutes away from La Patria whereas Malaga is 2hrs 15 minutes away, although the route from Malaga is a lot easier now that the Los Barrios / Jerez Autovia is open, it saves having to drive along the coast via Tarifa.
Thanks all again

Have you thought about the possibility of flying into/from Gib.
I know nothing about it, just thought it might work.

Hi JAWG
Yes I looked at Gib, as 'palmtrees' suggested, but the options and costs were not viable. Thanks anyway.
