publisher wanted for the book!
can anyone give me suggestions re a potential publisher for the book ... it appears to be attracting more attention than I expected (and not just from A.com supporters!) and I need to find a publisher ... I do not have the money to fund a reprint and am going to crack up under the strain of marketing and distributing copies around the Axarquia and eslwhere!!!

Santana turned me down over a year ago as they had already signed up David Baird ... will look at Writers and Artists Yearbook ... but was really hoping for a more specific suggestion as cannot afford to keep sending out copies on spec!
In addition to the books, you should have received the lithos or the materials used to actually print the book, or they should be available from your publisher at your request.
Use them to make photo copies (in color) of selected pages that represent your book and put together 5-10 pages with a cover letter that includes sales stats and submit that.
And, yes, Katy is correct. Get yourself an agent. A publisher will probably trash it even if you send an SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope).
Google up agents and their requirements.
Let me know where I may purchase your book with a credit card, a friend in Baja wants one.

You've obviously got no hang ups about self-publishing so what about trying some of the bigger ones that will handle marketing and distribution for you.
Athena Press list on Amazon as well as distribute to independent bookshops, in fact I didn't even realise until I started to look at publishers recently that they were a self-publishing company! http://www.athenapress.com/about-us.php

publisher waanted for the book!
just got back from driving/delivering/selling more books ... thanks for your suggestions:
1. re an agent ... yes but how do I find one?!
2. bob's suggestion re creating a a 'summary' sample of the book ... yes a good one ... more work but would be cheaper than sending the whole thing!
3. ask at the bookshops who are stocking the book for ideas of potential publishers ... will do so
4. will investigate athenapress
5. also need a secretary to keep up with correspondence etc

bob: sorry forgot to add that Pasa Tiempo bookshop in Torre del Mar takes credit cards
There's also http://www.lulu.com/uk/products/
I don't know a lot about them but they get good recommendations on a writers site I belong to and list travel books as one of the types of books they publish.

re potential agents and publishers: have been re-discovering the problem/response I had when approaching such agencies originally ie is it a history book or a guide book? different companies specialise in different topics ... and mine is a combination which makes life difficullt! I would be interested to hear from those of you who have seen the book how you would classify it? many thanks

Thanks for the offer. But I know absolutely nothing about the area and we are highly unlikely to return to Spain. I could go as far as to say we will not be returning to Spain. We love the country but the flight is too hard on my wife's very bad back. Last two times, we had to fly Business Class and we can no longer afford the $12,000 + just for the flight. (Plus accommodation, plus car rental.)
