Cruises in Malaga

Has anyone had any experience with Cruises in Malaga - they offer cruises to Lisbon, Canaries, Morocco etc?

I think they are just a TA aren't they? Any TA will be able to book you a cruise that goes out of Malaga. Or just log on to whatever cruiseline direct. Royal Caribbean, and Cunard have cruises out of Malaga, think the RCI ones are short 5 days and pretty cheap. All depends what cruiselines you prefer. MSC and Costa also have cruises out of Malaga, personally I wouldn't use either of them.

Yes, I have used both. Cunard is far more formal than RCI, so it depends what you are looking for. There is much more choice sailing out of Barcelona, on 7 night crusies. Also best at the moment to make sure the ships currency is US dollars onboard.

Looks like then cruise operator is called IBERO - anyone know of them. It says the cruises have a strong spanish flavour which sound interesting but might mean no sleep for a week!!

well the people that i have known that have got cruises around the med from malaga were very dissapointed as the food,people,entertainment,noise was very spanish,they carry the mess and the lack of respect with them so to be in a confined space with a couple of thousand of them would not be my cup of tea

My neighbours have been with two Pullmantur cruises here and thoroughly enjoyed both. Most guests were Spanish but my friends are fluent, went with friends and were very well received by crew and guests alike and would go again.
They said the food was very good, the cruises are all fully inclusive now ie drinks too, but obviously entertainment in Spanish, as one would expect. Trips were overpriced so they did their own thing. They went via Barcelona.
I am off on one shortly, on the route you mention from Malaga, Robano, and despite the slightly misleading advert, discussed here before, I actually got the cruise at less than the quoted paper price, so that made a pleasant change, via an excellent english speaking TA.
I would point out that I am a smoker and Pullmantur are one of the only cruises left in the world that allows the filthy habit and the only all inclusive. If you don't want to mingle with smokers, please don't choose it because you will upset yourself and the rest of us who do.
The ship is the flagship and she is a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship , very stable, fully loaded. I have been with RC in USA before and they are excellent. RC own Pullmantur by the way now.
Any way, here's hoping my neighbours are right - will report back after my well deserved end of season rest.

Not many cruises allow you to embark/disembark at Málaga. Some of the cruises advertised here and aimed at the Spanish market are from little known ships. My hairdresser went on one out of Barcelona, she said the ship appeared old and shabby, was buffet only and the food was cráp. I know someone else who has been twice with one of these obscure lines and enjoyed it...although she is anorexic and he is one of the 'eatowt' club

The prices advertised in Spain are not the final price, they do not include taxes and port charges. Not so cheap for the inferior quality when it's all totaled.

I've been looking for a Malaga embarkation/ disembarkation for years and this is the first I have come across so far. Most are Barcelona.
At € 68 per day for all inc. alcohol, food, live entertainment, casino and travel, have my bed made daily, I don't think I'll choke on the food even if it is "crap " and inferior

Yes Frog, I am inclined to agree. I like a bit of class when I cruise and not a buffet all the time.

Hi all,
I am emailing you from the cruise ship as discussed above, where I can at last use the internet. Sorry I have not been in touch - my system is temporarily down.
The Pullmantur flagship ship -ex RC, is lovely, big clean, smart, food very good, cabins excellent - typical of the Royal Carribean standard I have had before, so if anyone is in doubt ref. booking, don't be concerned.

I hope the internet is part of the 'all inclusive'.
I found on the cruise lines I have been on that using the internet is one of the most expensive things to do on board. Once I realised this I would always use an Internet cafe whilst in port. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the cruise!!

I have just seen an ad in the Euro Weekly News for a cruise that looks like you can join at Malaga (although it doesn't actually say where you embark) through a company in Gib - calypsotravel.gi. It's 21 days and goes to the eastern Med, Canaries and Morocco. Looks an interesting trip and whilst I quite fancy a cruise myself, there's no way my OH will go on one

I didn't look foward to our first cruise but loved it! Try to go every year(do like a land holiday tagged on though.) I would not do a Med cruise after the end of Sept and I am fussy about which line I use. Cruising has changed a lot, last one we were on only 24% were over 50. Internet aboard is expensive, last one cost me $50 and that was just for e-mails.

My OH never wanted to go on a cruise, he thought that it would be mostly 70 - 80 year old type of holiday. You do get a lot of older Americans, but it is appealing to all age groups now. OH is a fitness fanatic and spends a lot of time in the GYM. Nowadays its hard to get him to take any other kind of holiday as it takes some beating as a totally stress free holiday. Due to popularity, number of ships, and lower prices introduced, you do need to take some care on choosing your cruise line. Can think of nothing worse than finding you are on a "Butlins at Sea" holiday.
