White sand beaches east of Malaga
Does anyone know of any white sand beaches east of Malaga?
Re: White sand beaches east of Malaga
The beaches here are more fine grit than sand.

Agree, I think generally the beaches are very disappointing along most of the Costa del Sol. Certainly east of Málaga, beaches like Almuñecar, Burriana, Torrox etc are pretty grotty! Try Costa de la Luz, lots of decent sand there.

costa de la luz has plenty of sand, plenty of wind, and not much scenery. ok if you are a wind surfer or beach freak.

The answer to the original question is:
NO
But how far east of Malaga do you want to go??? I am assuming you mean in Andalucia.

I think some certainly need them, you lot want to get out more! There's a lot more to Andalucia than that awful strip of concrete that runs all along the Costa del Sol.julian wrote:we are going to have to start some geography classes here soon on andaluia.com !!

Yes I basically mean between Nerja and Cabo de Gata. Cabo de Gata is a bit far for a short weekend, so we're thinking maybe La Herradura which I know isn't white sand but might be nicer than Torre del Mar for example...
Re: White sand beaches east of Malaga
Wasn't going to chip in as it's not geographically the answer to the question but the best beaches are from Cabopino to Marbella city limits. White clean sand, no grit or pebbles. Not much building close, no paseo hence no traffic, mainly natural sand dunes. my favourite is Golden beach. Suppose this is not what people will want to read though is it...just attracts some smart a..rse comment

Golden Beach - my fave too here! Especially outside of August. Lovely big wide stretch of sand. Also lots of scandinavians use it in summer and they are always very nice and their children well behaved.
Failing that go to Florida gulf coast, better all round

Right, but it's still a beach where you can drive down and park right on the beach!

I really liked la Herradura after a couple of visits, really beautiful part of the coast...not sure that being able to park on the beach is neccessarily a good idea for a nice day out on the beach though!!
Re: White sand beaches east of Malaga
Once again somebody thinking Costa de la Luz is solely Cadiz/chiclana area only!! Mind you, it keeps all the tourists away from this end!!TOZ wrote:costa de la luz has plenty of sand, plenty of wind, and not much scenery. ok if you are a wind surfer or beach freak.

It is an area I intend to visit one day. Been to Ayamonte, is that fairly close?
Re: White sand beaches east of Malaga
Its lovely around here Katy.
Ayamonte is just before you cross the border to the Algarve and is a one hour car journey for me. I understand there are a lot of Brits there now in Costa Esuri resort!

Cid, If you travel east of Malaga via Barcelona, girona then cut across to Santander and down through Portugal you will come to this area. A quicker way is south of Malaga for 2 hours.
