What's happening in Madrid
Okay. So Madrid is not Andalucia but what is happening in Madrid at the end of the month? 95% of all hotels are booked and the cheapest room I can find for a one night stopover is around €300. ¿Qué?

Thanks. I always use booking.com and have Genius status but it was that site that was flagging up the stats. I have now found somewhere over near Chamartin for just over €100. All I wanted was a holiday break in Athens. By the time the train fares and hotels are added to both sides of the break I could have had an easier holiday going to Patagonia.

Travelodge have 3 hotels in Madrid. Depending on which night you want to stay, there website is showing from 33 euros to about 50 euros per night for the last week in September and the first week in October.
Just google travelodge Madrid.

I stayed at the Posada de el Chaflán in the end. It's very weird but really, really nice. It's a bit like The Generator in London. Anyway, the reason why all the hotels in Madrid were full was ... a worldwide dental conference. I kid you not. It was dentists.
