Long ago gave up looking for local maps something approaching O.S. quality. Best we found were some military maps, but these contained so many contours, printed in a handful of murky colours, that they were almost impossible to read! Good old Michelin maps are a good standby, but limited on track and minor road detail.
Recently found this, though:
Axarquia Tour & Trail map, 1:40,000
Published by Discovery Walking Guides Ltd, by David Brown
Double-sided fold-out map, covering from Zafarraya in the NW, to Almunecar in the SE.
Terrific detail and clarity, good use of colour.
Found ours in Smiffs, Nerja.

Also consider wikiloc app from App Store. You can follow other guides or add your own walks.
