Has anyone travelled this approx route by car during a holiday? Would like to see the northern areas hopefully next summer to get away from the andalucian heat. Any recommendations of towns/places to see

Hi elusive,
"Any recommendations of towns/places to see"............You can't go wrong up in that area, between the coast and the mountain range.
Use Google maps and pick a town/villages and work your way through them.
Places like ......Santillana del Mar

World famous Caves........... see

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_A ... hern_Spain

Great seaside towns...........see

http://www.spain.info/en_GB/que-quieres ... quera.html

Mountains.......see

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picos_de_Europa

Just so much up in that region........its green, it rains in summer........ :D

I know you said by car...........but its great for cycling......quiet lanes, hills and great views.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Santiago is lovely, Baiona is a great place with nice beaches. A little town called Boiro has the best fish in the area. We did Malaga to Santiago a few years ago. Nice drive but from the north down is better.
