Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good Insurance company? I recently moved to Spain, just outside Gibraltar and need to sort out car and home insurance.

I don't speak Spanish so although I want good value, I need a good service for expats too!

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

For car insurance Linear Direct (direct line) seem to be favorite - but there is also Abbeygate and Carinsurancespain. Its worth getting Quotes from the second two and thenget Linear Direct to beat them

Linea Directa have our car insurance, any person over 26 can driv, so you don´t just insure the person to drive the car. They do house insurance too, I have not used them for that though, we have our house insurance with Mapfre.

I have got my bike and car insurance via Ibex telephone 0034900102316 the english lady was very helpful and friendly on the other end of the phone.I would highly recommend them,they were much cheaper than linea direct who i had the time before.
Also,If you get a cheaper quote from someone else,tell them that you have been quoted it cheaper elsewhere and they will knock it down for you if they can.

Linea directa seem to be desperate to keep the business at present.

I had my renewal notice last month for €687. After getting a few other quotes LD knocked it down to €386.

Be careful on their contents insurance. They don't cover you for robbery unless your house is like Fort Knox and then for only about 15% of the value of the contents unless you lose 85%.

I've been using Rightway Insurance recently. They've been able to beat any quote I could get by a large amount!

Thanks for that - I'll check them out next time - but are they like for like and have you any experience of a claim - Linear direct are exceptional !

I've not had any reason to claim thru them fortunately - but they are a well established reputable company.
