Temporary broadband 3 months

Postby fyfin » Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:52 am

Does anyone know what the best option would be to have internet broadband available for a period of 3 months. My wife would like to play her online bingo now and again and I would want to receive emails. We will be in Turre.

Hi fyfin,
A PAG internet dongle might be your best option............

Something like..................

Have to await other members to report who may use similar system.

That one sounds more interesting but I guess you need to buy a dongle so I will do a bit of research here first. I assume any dongle will work so long as you have the right sim from Masmovil.

Sounds like it might work for us but I am a bit concerned how much my wife would be using with online bingo. Also the speed might not be great but it might be our only option. I appreciate the reply and wait and see if anyone has other ideas as well.

Sorry had two tabs open - meant to post this first.

I use Mas Movil, their 1GB monthly package is about the same price as Simyo (simyo.es) however Simyo have a 5GB option at 30 euros per month. Both use the Orange network.

Does that tie you into a long term contract?

I can recommend Broadband4Spain if you are in area they cover. You havea sort of pizza box shaped receiver installed on your roof, pointing at a transmitter and you only pay when you visit. You have to give them notice of when you want suspension of the service. My broadband is really fast, it's one of the plusses for me of life in Spain. I have a rubbish sloooow dongle connection in the UK. Sorry I can't bring you a link atm, will try later, or you could Google BB4S

Now that sounds the biz , I noticed a little dish sort of thing on a neighbour's wall but they haven't been there there same time as me so couldn't ask but guessed it was internet.

Much better than dongles as far as I can see - will definitely check this out.

Many thanks, I think problem solved!

Oh well - sounded great until they contacted me to say they don't cover my area - Que lastima!!

The idea is good so maybe there is another operator in my area doing the same thing.

There are loads of Wi-Max companies about unfortunately you can only choose the ones that serve your house. It must be more or less direct line of sight to their mast. Perhaps if you gave your location someone could suggest another service.
Most of these companies only operate on a 12 month contract however due to the cost of installing the equipment.

I think I gave my location in my first post . It is Turre, Almeria so if anyone does know which company services that area.

If the little lady cannot play bingo for hours, that might save you a fortune!

Good God man - bingo and line dancing come well before anything else including the cost of internet.

My brother does this and lives near Albox. They just have it for about 6 months of the year. I have e-mailed him to ask who he is with. Just have to wait for an answer!! They might cover your area with luck. Will let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Fylin - the provider my brother is with is Albox online. Have a look at their website. They cover a big area but might be a bit too far north for you.

Had a look and sent them an email but not sure if they will cover Turre. There must be a provider around that area but I've googled for ages and no joy!
