Re: Flies on balcony
I never know how to respond to 'flack' and accusations of being arrogant etc. Part of me is shocked as I don't ever see/think myself like that and it makes me wonder how I sound/come across on this forum. So I want to apologise ... it was not my intention to sound superior or anything like that. But that approach then leaves me open to being accused of seeking sympathy and support. The other part of me says 'walk away, leave it alone' ... but then I feel I am being cowardly and just running away. Dunno what to do or say!

Re: Flies on balcony
Gavilan,
Don't let stupid people persecute you, you did nothing wrong. If you come over as being a bit sensitive, idiots and trolls will home in on that.
Your persecutor has been a complete TWA.T today, ignore him, he's really let himself down as far as I'm concerned - if he has any decency he will publicly apologize for his boorish behaviour.

Re: Flies on balcony
I thought I'd get more of a flaming from the night shift than that, result
Gavilan, no need to apologise for anything. Do me a favour though after all this, try the fan idea tonight, disturb the air for the flies a little. If it doesn't work report back, and I will face the public humiliation associated with the failure
I don't mind being called a tw@t but less of the "ignore him" eh.Chunky Monky wrote:

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: Flies on balcony
I will try the fan idea ... and am less resistant to that since realising it could be a ceiling fan (as in films like 'African Queen'!) but I will also but separately try a bunch of herbs ... have to admit the 2 pots of mint have failed to date.

Re: Flies on balcony
Hi gavilan,
Ceiling fans work a treat too, have two, no A/C here.
You may have to hunt around for ones as in films like "African Queen"
Modern ones tend to run faster even on slowest settings.

Yes, notice how lots of posters who never have much to say want to join in if there is a spat/disagreement with "Ditto, snap, hear hear" really helpful stuffDevils Advocate wrote:Guess, I'll just have to accept you people are on a different planet to me then. Re: Flies on balcony
I suspect some of the posters who 'never have much to say' are quiet because they've run foul of some of the more acerbic posters here! If the cap fits..........Yes, notice how lots of posters who never have much to say want to join in if there is a spat/disagreement with "Ditto, snap, hear hear" really helpful stuff

And others may prefer to follow the maxim of keeping quiet if they haven't got anything worthwhile to say. If all forum members did the same the post count of some of them might not be quite so astronomical.

I'm beginning to notice a cliquey element to this forum

My post count is high because I spent thousands on answering Julian and a few others who smelt blood. Also I am not on every spanish forum going like some seem to be!
