40 degrees?
Re: 40 degrees?
It was 36c in the kitchen at 8pm yesterday, I stayed in just long enough to mix the tonic with the gin.
Dense Mary stayed indoors watching tv and moaning about the heat.

Re: 40 degrees?
I sometimes wonder what will happen first (if ever!) - The stores in Spain putting the price in pesetas as well as Euros, or the BBC stop the annoying "and in old money" Fahrenheit?
The latter must be a sop to those odd folk over the pond who still use gallons (although not the same as the old Imperial ones), inches feet and yards, and Fahrenheit!

Re: 40 degrees?
I popped down to the beach bar at La Rábita for a coffee last Monday, i was there half an hour or so, and 3 kids got bitten in that short time, thats enough to keep my feet on dry land

Re: 40 degrees?
Do you mean stung, Julie? Or were they shark bites
I went to our local pool yesterday - it was bliss! I do envy you lucky people with your own pool. Trouble was, going there wasn't too bad, it's about a 15 minute walk all downhill and I got straight in the pool, but I had spots before my eyes after the walk back! And that was 7 o'clock at night - the heat was just too much for poor ancient old me.

Re: 40 degrees?
Over here in La Herradura we have had the hottest day since I set up my weather station 10 years ago. 40.6c and most of the day was overcast. Click on the thumbnail below to enlarge it.
Checking the temperature reports towards Malaga it seems to be cooler there- it's usually the other way around. It must be coming down the valley from Granada.
It is forecast to be even higher next week.

Re: 40 degrees?
Snap...40.6 C here too this PM, although the airport was recording 32 c at the same time, cooler by the sea I expect. Maldonado had it pegged right for us, again. He's a good chap!

Re: 40 degrees?
Cool here in Bilbao today.I'm looking forward to heading down to Andalucia for the last 10 days or so of August.
I wouldn't mind a week of hot weather while I'm there.

Re: 40 degrees?
40.3 Deg.C. today maximum though now dropped back to 37.4. A couple more degrees and I am happy; that's why I moved to Spain. I will have a sweater nearby just in case it goes below 35 this evening.
Re: 40 degrees?
A most unpleasant day yesterday with 40 deg C
Today is as bad though there is a breeze.
Alright for just sitting about but horrible for work
I am not looking forward to it being hotter next week at all.

Be careful. It's dangerous if you have underlying health problems.

Re: 40 degrees?
Here's a tip for you Olive. I am a martyr to night cramp but I drink a pint of "Genuine" CocaCola every day and that stops it. ( Has to be the real stuff...supermarkets own brand doesn't work!) Trouble is that it's stuffed with calories so have to cut down on cakes in the summer...Bu@@er!
Got the tip from a doctor for British Airways...it works

Thanks for the tip Country Boy- but I am diabetic, so it would probably end up killing me!country boy wrote:Here's a tip for you Olive. Bummer!
Re: 40 degrees?
My mum suffered terible with cramp and used to have a tonic water (solo) before going to bed, I often have a tonic water as well it helps with the drunkeness.

Bananas and Tomatoes are regarded as good to prevent cramp.
Re: 40 degrees?
i've been back in the uk for 5 weeks now and have loved the temperature. its not gone below 20degs on any of the days, even if there has been a bit of drizzle here and there.
I brought jumpers galore and not even needed them.
intermittant cloud cover makes it brilliant for the kids playing out.
there are kids activities on DURING the day, not starting at 9pm at night!
Rides at the beach are opoen daily and not after midnight!
in general we are absolutely loving it here and are not looking forward to going back to that heat!
if you'd asked me a few years back if i'd have been saying that, i'd have said 'never' so it just goes to show...'never say never'!
