Rain at last.
It looks like we are in for some rain next week - that will keep the farmers happy!
The long range forecasts are showing some very odd weather for the next two weeks. It could rain every day (at some point) for 10 days or more, starting Sunday night. One forecast is predicting 160mm in total and pretty cold too.
They could be wrong of course!

And we're walking our friends' dog for the next couple of weeks
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Good especially if it is steady rain and not torrential. Too late for early ripening varieties of olives but not for the hoji blancas.

Re: Rain at last.
I was here in winter 1995/6. It started raining at the beginning of December and it rained for 2 out of every 3 days until the middle of March!
I don't want that again!

Re: Rain at last.
A friend moved from Manchester to Benalmadena in the early 90s and it rained for nearly 3 months. His neighbour said we have enough water for 5 years now and guess what? It didn't hardly rain for 5 years. The world has a way of putting itself right. This year we will have enough rain to top all the reservoirs up.

I hope so because lake vinuela looks nearly empty.

Re: Rain at last.
We first came in Feb 1996 and were told it was the worst rain for 200 years. I know that there had been a drought for he previous 5 years, so as usual it caught up all in one go. The weather seems to be a bit 'all or nothing' so, like others, I hope it's not damaging rain.El Cid wrote:I was here in winter 1995/6. Re: Rain at last.
Yes, the drought was really bad - no significant rain for about 7 years. They had ordered about 5 desalination plants along the coast as it was so serious and they were taking water tankers into Malaga. When it finally rained the new motorway to the east of Malaga was closed as all the rock reinforcing ended up on the road!
The next winter was almost as bad! As Costakid says, the weather has a way of putting itself right. The averages always win in the end.

It was. It got to the stage where they were thinking of going back to the uk for a couple of months.
Re: Rain at last.
Forgot rain equals power cuts, wind equals power cuts. Been off for an hour now in whole village. Funny think is it is neither windy nor raining.........

Re: Rain at last.
We have had 25mm so far. It would help if you put your location in your profile.

Re: Rain at last.
We travelled from middle of Huelva provincia to Jerez this morning and it was torrential rain most of the way. Further downpours from 12.00 to 1.15 in Jerez, then it started to clear. I expect you lot further east will have benefited from it this afternoon/evening!

Re: Rain at last.
How big's your dish Gerry? No interruptions here despite thunder and torrential rain but it is a 1.5m.
