Are there any stroke support groups in malaga ?

Postby spanish_lad » Tue Apr 11, 2017 5:14 pm

hey all, ive been doing some research and im looking to find any information that i can about aftercare for a stroke victim. Ive found the website of a group based in torrevieja ( www.torreviejastrokesupport.org ) and ive been reading through the information on there, but i was wondering if there is anyone more local who my dad could talk to in regard to caring for my mum. They live in alhaurin el grande, malaga.

thanks.

my dad already spoke to them, they refered him to "costa angels" ... they wanted to know how they could help, sitting with her if he wanted some time out, or getting their shopping. both things that i do for them.

shes 63 yrs 7 months. she becomes a pensioner on the 6th of march, 2018. *at the moment*

Give your parents my best wishes and regards and I hope your mum gets better..
Haven't seen them for a while since TAPAS stopped performing at Sol Andalaucia.
Cheers

Thanks Gerry. After TAPAS it became "The Andy Ross Singers" and they did several performances - even at mijas pueblos music festival a few years ago. Neither of them have been involved with the choir for a good few years now, but im sure that at least dad will remember you, i'll pass on your message.

spanish lad ... I was sorry but not surprised to hear that 'Costa Angels' seemed to miss the point of what your father was looking for! in the UK there are many carers organisations which do offer support groups of various kinds ... but here there are few ... as yet. I dont know how much your father uses the internet but he might find a stroke support group there ... or mmaybe he has already looked into this too.

He has an old nokia. Ive just shown him what 'google' is. He only knows youtube.

Its down to me to do some research. To be fair they asked what we wanted them to do, and suggested those things to us as examples.

He may end up calling them to ask for something

doesnt sound your your dad will be comfortable with an online forum ... unless you have time/energy/patience to help him get used to it ... my only other thought would be to ask his doctor or his local health centre if they know of any support groups ... but I guess either you or he has already done that ...hope something works out for you all ...
